    Lost Marble,
Went through the same exact thing you went through.Failed my pre-employment BEFORE I even received my license. But like one poster said"they can do whatever they want"

As far as the SAP program, yes you will have to attend the SAP and pay out of your own pocket.I was not able to get a job OTR as the only companies who will hire you straight out of school are the biggest ones;and the problem with that is they ALL subscribe to the DAC agency and YES you are dinged on your report. The other company that you can get on with.would be a smaller company that does not use the DAC system, problem for you with this situation is the fact that most smaller companies will not hire you due to their insurance costs,as they cant absorb your risk like the big companies can.(two years + experience)

Ill address the DAC report, as I know there has been a lot of misinformation about how long this stays on your record. This positive drug screen will stay on your report for 36 months, I have talked to those people in oklahoma (DAC) and contrary to what is said on the various message boards, the nice woman at DAC told me that it does not stay on your record forever (Like some people have said),now she was only speaking of pre-employment drug screens. Of course I didn't believe her so I pulled my DAC at the 37 month, and it was no longer on my report.

So what did I do in the interim with those 3 years? I went local in my town and worked for a construction company Driving end-dumps hauling clean fill dirt. Paid me $14 an hour and after a year of doing this started looking for small companies that would talk to me about OTR (few and far between)
Found a husband and wife Owners of 2 trucks who gave me a shot.

Today, I am with a mid-sized company, making 40 CPM and love my job and wouldn't do anything to jeopardize my job!!! I can go to any company and hire on,as my drug screen according to DAC does not exist;it fell off my record just like the woman at DAC said!!

I can only tell you one more thing: I lost a boat load of money for my "one mistake" and gained a respect for what we all call CDL.

Good luck brother,I know it seems like a dead deal but only if you want it to be. I busted my hump to get into this industry and I will bust my hump to stay in this industry

    GOD bless you

LOL, what are you, 5 ft and 300 lbs? I smoked my ### off for five years straight, quit and tested clean in three weeks.

Nope! Six foot, 205 lbs. I only dealt with the very strong stuff for muscle aches and pains. It's the real sticky stuff that apparently stays in your system longer.

If you were chronic smoker it can take years to leach out of your fat cells

I had an acquaintance wanting to work for the telephone company he had stopped for 12 months only to fail, he previously smoked for years daily

There was a guy who started at the same time I did at a Swift school. Awesome attitude, good listener, cheerleader for the whole group and working very hard to get his s*** together. He stopped smoking weed for about a month and a half only to be sent home for a positive test. He really wanted to work for Swift because they were willing to give him a chance that nobody ever had before in his life. He missed the threshold by a narrow margin. Perhaps had he waited just a few more weeks. He was crushed when he had to go home. Therefore, I'm not going to say a negative thing to you for at least trying.

Your story and his are identical and this story repeats itself hundreds of times per year. I hope some hopefuls in a similar situation are reading this, because I will say this one more time: test yourself first before submitting to a prehire. If it comes back positive, wait a week and try again. Keep trying until you pee yourself a clean sample and THEN go for your prehire.

DO NOT, as suggested above, attempt to cheat the test.:biggrin_25510: Often, an attendant will be in the room with you observing the sample donation and if something should go wrong and you get caught cheating, your career will be over for good.

Accept that you will never work for Swift (not a big loss in many opinions) put some more time between yourself and the weed, do the program and then do your best to move on.

    Good luck to you.

Hey guys! Thanks once again for all of the advice. Today I got a chance to drive for a buddy of mine. He knows the situation I'm in so he's going to train me himself. We're going to team on a few loads to gain experience and then eventually drive for him when I'm done with SAP process. He's even flipping the bill for the SAP program so my record will be cleaned up in a few years.

Just to let a few of you know, I wasn't trying to cheat "The System" or look for sympathy. I just wasn't clean yet when I started out. I'm done with the stuff for good! And which driving movies are there that depict drug users? I haven't seen any of them. Could be fun to watch when I've got nothing else better to do.

THC is stored in fat cells of the body. It is the hardest drug to get out of your system.. If you do cocaine you could pass a pee test in a week to 10 days. Thats for a pee test. A hair test is a whole new ballgame.

The more you weigh (body fat) the longer THC takes to leave your body. Your metabolism has a lot to do with it also. I knew a guy who smoked every day for 20 years, He was 6'0" and weighed only 150 pounds but he passed a pee test(no cheating after 4 weeks of quitting).

Kinda sucks about these tests cause even though you didnt smoke for a month and half it still showed up. Someday it will be legalized. They should legalize marijuana and ban alcohol. Thousands of people are killed every year by drunk ### drivers. How many have been killed by someone who smoked a joint?

If you go to any Walgreens or CVS pharmacy they have self tests for MJ. Costs about $17 and you have the results in 5 minutes and they are 99% accurate.

Did you know six weeks ago about the pre-test? Not hammering you but they sell herbal stuff at the health-food stores that will clean it out in a few weeks, not two months. THC stays in your fat tissues, that's why it doesn't flush out like alcohol and other "stuff" does in 24-72 hours.

If you are really into smoking MJ, this isn't the business to be in.
I am not judging you, just a heads up for other pee-testing drivers here.

Also some companies are going to start testing hair follicles, so that's another concern to a driver if they use the drugs they test for a DOT CDL.
Hair follicle tests can go back up to three years in some cases from what I have read.

Best to use alcohol if you have to, when not driving, and give yourself 8 full hours before you drive a rig. One time busted drugged/drunk in a rig and your CDL is worthless forever. Something to think about, before you drive a class 8 vehicle.

It can take THC up to 90 days or more depending on body fat. How active you are etc. Do a home test before you go next time.....They sell 1-12 panel drug tests at CVS...

In all the pre employment drug screens I have taken there has never been an attendant in the bathroom. As a matter of fact,They can not enter the room unless they suspect you have an adulterant or collecting a second sample(ie, temperature was outside the acceptable range) This according to the FMCA regs
