Well, I got a prehire letter from the big white truck (swift) wich means, according to the school, they will finance me to get my CDL. The last thing on the SWIFT checklist and the one that concerns me is the 'Subject to final interview and hire approval' thing at the bottom.
Wich, if they decide to not hire me would leave me with tuition, a CDL and no job. what do I do then? My biggest hurdle seems to be the fact that no company goes further back than 3 years, over the last 3 years I have had finance and family issues causing me to be unemployed for all but the last 3 months of it I have had to move 4 times, its just been hell.
Once one has a CDL in hand, what do they do? Im just confused and of course, over worrying about not getting hired once I get in the hole for about 2500 for my CDL
Suggestions?

Well I dont know how the Swift thing works...but I'm sure some of the others that went thru their school will be in to help you. Good Luck
-
simple..........if swift turns you down in the final stage.......go someplace else. it ain't like swift is the only company out there. -
It is obvious you have done some checking...yes you are "pre-selected" for the school/academy...and at that point no background check has been done. As for your period of unemployment, you will need to be able to verify that you were unemployed during the period you claim. A letter from family, Doctor, parole board...(just kidding)...after the school is when Swift does a complete background screening...DMV, employment verification and medical...this is the point when you will need to verify any "unemployed" periods.
Swift is a decent place to start...just be upfront and honest about everything...as long as your record is clean...you should have no problem. -
Well, its not a swift school, they gave me a pre employment letter (attached and probably HUGE
) That is what they gave me, with that the school named said they would finance me. Its not a swift school. but they do hire out of it.

I spoke to both the recruiter and school, the school said that swift has, and will pay back most of it, I have to pay 50 a month of it no big deal I can cover that. And the swift recruiter said that in order to go to a swift school, i would have to move to NY (the only place I have family that they will accept) they do not have any schools that accept people from CO currently.

which school are you going to out here?

if all goes according to hope/plan?
Careers Worldwide 270 out of pocket, and 4,500 total.
Why? -
just curious, i noticed there are a #### load of them out here. when i was training i saw trucks for like 50 different places.
if you havnt commited to anything and money is a concern the school i went to was only like 2800 and they finance as well, with 500 down i believe.
*i think the cost is more if you finance, the 28 is a nice discount for paying up front.
