My fiancee and I received our CDL-A in December and have been unemployed looking for work since. We have applied at a large number of places but are having no luck. Apparently our MVR isn't good enough for literally anyone. She was accepted at USXpress, but I wasn't. I was accepted at Schneider and she wasn't, and many other places denied us both. It has been a while, so we need a refresher Im sure, but we are dedicated, hard working, premade team. Our CDL is Virginia, but we are currently stranded in IL.

Really? No replies? Well crud. Was hoping to get advice at least.

Even though you have your CDL's, you still have to complete your training individually by each going out with a trainer. And since most drivers don't stay with their training companies, you might want to each take them jobs offered. Then rejoin together when you both have six months experience.
Without knowing your driving infractions it's hard for anyone to give you advice. If you are getting rejected, there is something there. But don't give up, there's literally thousands of companies out there.
I'll move this to "Questions from New Drivers" and you'll get more responses. -
well, two add a little clarity
July 09 + Jan 10 ... speeding excess of 15mph
for me
for her
suspension last year -
That would make you only acceptable to a CDL mill wanting your money . Do you know how many wannabes with clean MVR's you are competing with ?
-
That's a rough battle CptJack. Many companies require none of them infractions in the past 3 years.
You can go to each company website and they list the qualifications. Right off hand I don't know of any. Maybe someone else does.
I would consider the offers you got if you want to get your foot in the door. -
yeah, sorry 15 over + is NOT good, and a suspension......NOT GOOD.....was the 15+ over in a cmv?? i am confused, you say you just got your cdl in dec...but unemployed since.....so you do, or dont have experience in a truck??? sounds like y'all are just starting.... i cant help...i am just trying to get a clearer picture....

This is just another example of how CDL mills are unethical and knowingly accept students with little or no chance of being hired.
CDL mills should be required to provide applicants with written disclosures with a list of conditions like bad MVR , criminal record , physical conditions , etc that could possibly rule out qualification for employment.Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
They were in a personal vehicle, to clarify, on both of them. I went to an Orientation with US Xpress, with high hopes, only to be told I didnt qualify on the last day. Then, since they had arranged transport to Pennsylvania for my fiancee and I, they said we had to find our own way home... and that, wasnt easy.
