Anyone else using a pre-paid phone?

The wife and I have been using per-paids for years. I LOVE not being under contract :biggrin_25514:

We started with Tracfone, several years ago, when he cost per minute was about $.20. Then they added all kinds of card options, so that the per minute cost can now range from 9 to 33 cents per minute. Basically, the more you use it, the cheaper your cost per minute will be.

So a couple of years ago, we switched to Net10, where all calls are $.10 per minute. Have had no issues with it yet.

No, the same outfit, through Wal-Mart, or direct, offers Straight Talk. There are 2 plans, one for $30. per month with limits, and a Unlimited one for $45. I'm going with that to go back on the road with, I'll keep my Net10 with minimum minutes on it for my official 'personal' phone. The new one will be my work phone, so I can write off the cost at tax time.

The only down side is no laptop aircards available, but sale person I spoke to said he understands it's something they are working on.

So for those who aren't addicted to having the latest phone that comes down the line, it's a very viable option.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0J2fR-4aB8&feature=player_embeddedI just got the Straight Talk Samsung R355C with the full keyboard it looks like the expensive Blackberry but at $109.00 its a lot cheaper! I found out you should buy this unit on the Wall Mart web sight as if you buy it there instead of at the store they include a 1000 min. card free, This reduces the cost of the phone to $80.00. In the store you only get the phone and no min. I tried the web on it and although it was a little slow it worked well. It uses the Verizon network, I will buy the $45.00 unlimited everything for 30 days on my next due date. There are no connection fees or hidden charges at all. I checked the coverage area map and its GREAT! Some are paying $60.00-$70.00 a month for similar plans with 1-2 year contract. all and all I give this pre paid phone 4 out of 5 stars I would have given it a 5 if the internet was faster. I call my phone a "Wall berry" Here are other reviews-click on provided link here.http://www.google.com/search?q=Strai...&start=10&sa=N
