    That's it, then.

I didn't take it into the shower. When I left USA Truck, they gave me the transponder. Then when I started at USX, they had them so I didn't need it. So it kept going off for the month it was pre-paid. I had it inside my shower bag, because I kept everything in there. It was on the top bunk, and also inside the drawer in the back. It just kept going off until the pre-paid time on it ran out, or until they realized it was still on one. Not sure if it was exactly a month or not, but it was a while. The funny thing is they tell you exactly where they should be on the window, that it should be at the top, but not the bottom. Then mine is in the back of the sleeper inside a bag, or in a drawer and still going off. So I don't see how it being under your leg would block the signal, but a bag or drawer couldn't block the signal.

Went into a closed GA scalehouse years ago and got a really good talking-to concerning my inablility to read/pay attention

Suggest anyone with the "red light but closed sign" scenario pass the scales; happened to me once and I was nervous after I had gone by, called PrePass and they told me to obey the sign on the road and to not go into a closed scalehouse. Call their customer service number and ask them. Unnerving yes, but that is what they say.

Ever seen work/calibration being done at a scalehouse? PrePass ain't going to know that at the time and you have that compulsion to do what the little box tells you; you may not see it before you commit to the ramp - now what are you going to do?? Can just bet you will get a talking to at the very least!

Gollum says "don't follow the lights!"...

So what you're saying is that the signs are only for non prepass equipped trucks??....that's a joke....the signs apply to everyone, if the sign says closed, that means closed...it doesn't say "closed" for non prepass equipped trucks, all prepass trucks must enter....

If you follow the driver instructions explicitly, that's exactly what it means. Throw in a little common sense, huh? If the coop is dark and obviously locked up, are you going in? If trucks are backed up on the exit ramp onto the highway - unless you are directed to use the shoulder (there's one state where this is the case,) are you going in? It's the situation when its obvious that trucks have been going in, you receive a red light in advance of the coop and then the roadside sign changes to closed. The PrePass system documents lead you to believe that you must go in.

Scale has somewhere working but no trucks in line and roadside sign says closed but pre pass says red equals I say no thank you and just keep on driving. Why would you stop even though the sign says not too? Anyone stops is asking for a probing I would think.

Got a junker truck, so you're worried is it? There's a post on TTR somewhere about a driver who had to show a cop a green PrePass signal to avoid a ticket.
