Pre pass

It's worth it, IF, it does what it's suppose to do, every time. It's no guarantee to get you thru a scale without stopping. Some states "time stamp" you when going thru the scale which can be a hassle concerning your log book, if you get checked. Some scales might have the system turned off when you approach, which means you get nothing or you enter the scale. But even getting a "pass" 50% of the time would be worth it.

 

If you are getting hassled at weigh stations now, it won't get you much, the system comes up with the same codes as the coops do, and if your company is set to be inspected, you will draw even more scrutiny.

Some companies avoid it because of that very reason.

I had it with my first decent job, but haven't had one for years and I don't really miss it. The coops I get static weighed at don't have either weigh in motion or Pre-pass, almost everywhere else, I get the bypass lane even loaded.

It's not in the cards where I'm at now.

 

It depends on were you run, only about half of the scales I go by even have Pre-pass. I'm not getting checked at all at present, but there is nothing stopping you being pulled over away from the scale even if you run Pre-pass. Frankly, I am seeing more of that all of the time.

I was told the date thing, too, by the first company, but states not using Pre-pass are not bound by that agreement.

 

Newer truck, clean once in a while, stuff on the dash, sometimes, actually most of the time, makes no difference, in my experience, but a truck from the 'wrong' company has them pulling in just washed bobtails for the old once over, so, depending on where you are running, there are lists you don't want to be on.

Might only be certain places, but my home state has been called one of the bad ones by some. I never got red lighted in Iowa when I had Pre-pass, but got red lighted into closed scales in other states, so I have real life experience with that question.
