The only thing I ever heard about W.S. is when I contacted them when I was waiting to go out on the road they told me I needed 6 months min. driving a manual transmission. Before I would even be considered. They didnt even offer to hire me out of school or place me in school which was fine with me as I already have a 6k school bill to begin with, As I went through a prehired program and I already have a drivers code. I think that is why I havent got anywhere with any other companies while waiting to get out on the road. I know roehl has a decent priced school under 3k which is really good to me lol. There are many many companies in wisconsin to look up. I guess reading this site daily you are going to have to make a decision on where you wanna be not the company itself as there are bad things about every company and good things about the same company. It will be your decision in the long run. I made my decision to go with decker cause my neighbor told me they were decent as he drives for england and hates it. But now I am the one sitting here when all my classmates went to USA and have been on the road for weeks now. Just keep your head up like I said in other post Not to many companies are even picking anyone up till jan. cause of the economy so keep that in mind.

Just a quick question. I start training with SWIFT December 29th out in AZ so I've been monitoring all the issues with freight and miles. Once I am trained up and if I get hired I would like to make as much money as possible in this economy. I tend to stick with a company for better or worse, but I have to pay my bills.
Here's a question: what if you meet someone in training that you get along with what's the possibility of driving team out of the gate, can you do this as a company driver with SWIFT?
It seems like teams get loads first?
Any input greatly appreciated.

Be real careful who you team with! I'm training with Swift (end of week 2) and although he is a great driver/trainer, we are having a lot of personal issues. So much so that I'm contemplating getting off his truck when I get back to Fontana. I can only imagine running team with someone you met at school could be very risky. I'm a pretty easy guy to get along with, but sometimes it's the little things that drive people crazy... just something to think about..
Inferno_AZ Thanks this. -
You can go team right out of your mentorship.
Good luck and keep the rubber side down!

When you do get off his truck make sure you tell the training coordinator exactly what the issue are. This way (hopefully) he will let the trainer now so things like this do not happen in the future.. -
I'm Finally taking the leap and I know I have read a lot of thing about a lot of companies out there. The only thing is that I live in Florida and from what I can see there is not to many companies hiring student driver and Swift is giving me the chance to get my CDL. I'm really worry about all the things I read in here but I'm 52 yrs young and not getting any younger. I look at it this way this is something I always wanted to do and now I have a chance to do it and I know what everybody is saying attitude is not all but I'm one that thinks that you can go a long way with the right attitude and if there is someone willing to give me a chance why not do it and put my best efford forward. I will love to hear from Swift drivers who are not affraid to say they are Swift driver give us wannabe a little incouragement and not worry about what other people say. Look forward to hearing from you guys all input will be well taken. I'm goin jan-19 to Tenn.

Seems like Swift is the only big comp still hiring newbies. They have what 16k trucks wonder how many drivers have been there more that 5 years

i am almost finished with my swift mentor training getting ready to go solo, i see just as many veteran swifties as i do newbs, at terminals truck stops etc. you have to work hard at swift drive all your hours and make shure you have a preplan ready to go, if you dont want to do your job and do it safely they will terminate you no if ands or buts about it, possiably the reason for the mass hireing all the newbs get out here and think its all a road vacation and its not, just my 2 cents
