I'm scheduled to go to driver solutions in springfield, mo in three weeks.

My question is what should i be doing before hand. Should i be reading

the cdl manual everyday or is there online stuff i can study. Just want to

be prepared as much as i can. :biggrin_25514:

    Hey KCtruckin,
I'm a wannabe myself so I can't tell you much about advance preparation for school but I did take the CDL exam, successfully. After lots and lots of studying I went online and took the FREE CDL exam sample tests offered by CristCDL. Just google CristCDL to get to the site.

Why Driver Solutions? Did you check with OTC for when their classes start at a much better price? Whats going to happen after you graduate from them? Who will you be working for and what lease will a trainee sign?

Well i picked driver solutions because they work with PAM and USA trucking...i liked the idea of having a job lined up already. Which i do with USA.

Most of the community colleges in kansas city where i live are charging close to 6k for cdl training. Not to mention i wouldn't have a job lined up. Just seems a bit more risky with all the talk of trucking being slow because of the economy.

Can you handle driving 60 mph for 11 hours? Getting passed by everyone including your own Grandmother? In a white truck that doesn't get washed?

You might want to make a doctors appointment to get those pills for depression before hand.

You do NOT have a job lined up . Are you talking about a pre-hire ? Do a search on it here . It means nothing . There is no way a school can guarantee you will get past orientation . You can find many posts here confirming that .
Not everybody can learn to drive truck . It's like playing a banjo . Some just pick it up through natural ability and others never get it no matter how many times they try .
I don't care who believes it and who doesn't . I've seen enough of them . Same with heavy equipment operators . Skill can't be taught . Either you have it or you don't .

I've done alot of reading on here about every aspect there is. Kind of addicted to the forums actually. So i do know about the pre-hire letters not really meaning anything until you prove yourself, but i'm not worried about the skill part at all. I've been driving all shapes and sizes of vehicles for years.
