Honestly, the only time I use the pressure washer is when I wash out thee trailer. Once every few months I use it on the under carriage. A hose, bucket and that heavy duty telescoping pole brush do the job great. Plus no noise. I own a Briggs/Stratton setup 3.5hp and a CambelHausfld. Both work great.

any number of units will do the job. I like the one I have powered with a Honda engine. starts everytime. I think a pressure washer properly used has it's advantages over just a brush and a bucket. And I stopped using Blue Beacon in 1982 after they destroyed the paint on my 2 year old tractor. Why do you think they call them streakin beacon? If you rely on pressure and harsh chemicals alone you are going to harm the toughest finish.

2 nd advantage of a pressure washer is sometimes in the winter I don't want to wash the entire truck sparkling clean, just get the salt off of it. And of course it is a necessity for the chassis, hand washing there is totally ineffective.

Whatever you get, make sure it's high pressure. 2500 psi is the minimum I'd consider. We have a 2200 and it's marginal.

I bought one from http://www.pressure-pro.com/, I wanted a Honda Industrial motor (buy a GX and NOT a GC series) AND a CAT pump, so that was my criteria in shopping, really they are all a frame with an engine and pump, kind of like a CMV, you can have a Honda or a Briggs engine on a manufacturerof your choice. I got a 2700 PSI because the soap and aluminium cleaner I have recommended something that strong, you are going to have to pay a bit more to get a stout one, mine was right around $1K. I also recommend a piston pump over a radial one.

You didn't ask, BUT the best soap and cleaners I have found are from http://www.tetra-chem.com/, I use the TCI710HD and the TCI503HD, both are the bomb. The dealer I used to buy from was in Ohio, BUT I think he moved to Florida and retired, his website seems to be dead.

I used to use a pressure washer, but found that using the local car wash in town when I come home was a better option. I could leave the mess with them. And it was hot water for the wash/soap part of it. I know that this is not an option for everyone. Fortunately, I have local car washes in two towns near me that have bays large enough for truck tractor.... at least half of it at a time.

If you are wanting serious wash setup, the best one, and of course the most costly, it one of the Hotsy units. You can get small scale units, and they will wash the dried feces off the back end of an elephant in quick order. And there are all electric versions. Other wise, check your local farm and home store, or local building supply for a regular pressure washer. There are a lot of options. TS offered what seems like a viable option.
