First one I thought of when I read the title to this thread.
Years and years back, on my very first trip through Flagstaff, AZ., my Truck Stop Directory told me where to find Little America off I-40.
Came in at night (always a place to park at ANY time back then), pitch dark. And woke up to a beautiful misty mountain view to the north. Immediately put me in a good mood.
Then I went in, and had one of the biggest, and best breakfasts I have ever eat'n on the road, for like $5.00.
Then, I enjoyed a free shower without purchasing fuel.
Then I took a nice walk on a path through the woods and enjoyed more scenery.

I don't know if the combination of beauty, and my starry-eyed roockie status played the biggest roll.....but I DO know, that I never (to this day) experienced a more "sureal" setting in 17 years out there.

Wow. Sounds like a place you could LIVE, never mind just drive through in a truck.

Was just there the other day. Unfortunately there was some major wildfire somewhere because there was only about 3/4 mile visibility due to all the smoke in the air. Was bad. Kinda a bummer cause first time in Missoula.

That litlle cafe there at the corner of parking lot has some awesome food.

Highly recommend the Bananna Bread French Toast... Not the standalone meal 4 slicds, but the one with 2 slices, 2 eggs, and sausage or bacon.

Delicious and I skipped the syrup... It didn't need it.

    PLEASE say it isn't so!!!!

Why would Little American sell out? What would Pilot do with a hotel?

You MAY be thinking of the Pilot about 10 miles west of there.

Not that it is going to affect me one way or another as far as truck stop choices (I work local)....but just the thought of a Pilot destroying the "ambiance" of that particular location, sorta depresses me.

I remember stopping there once in broad daylight for coffee and a whiz..... I was uncomfortable at that time of day. Not sure if I have the cajones to stop there at night.

I may be wrong. I was only there once. I was telling a friend where I was. He thought it was the old Little America location. It was a fairly new Pilot. It was East of Williams.

Don't think I'll be out that way for quite a while. I will let you know when I get there in the motor home.

    I am doing local too.
