I have straight pipes on my 96 cat, and all when it is pulling all you hear is the throaty engine noise, the only time you hear the turbo whine is when I let off to shift.

    FlaSwampRat and Shawn2130 Thank this.

I like the one where he is sipping coffee out of a coffee mug while going down the road. That's got disaster written all over it.

To stop hearing the turbo whistle look into helmholtz resonators, and get ready to do math.

Put a proper sized one on the intake and the noise will go away.

No I mean he was drinking out of a mug like you'd use in a restaurant, while he is moving. I drink coffee too while driving but out of a Stanley mini thermos.

The turbo noise has a lot to do with the compressor wheel. Some are noisier than others but they can be swapped out. This is common on the little trucks to get a little better performance out of the turbo.
