I don't know where to put this so sorry if this is the wrong section.
Question is...I had a nice job managing a bar in my hometown for 5 years and my boss flipped out and began to have a nervous breakdown over the last 2-3 years and began systematically firing everyone for a myriad of reasons all of which are unfounded.
The business has numerous complaints with the labor board for unpaid wages we got investigated for not paying taxes by the IRS and is being sued by vendors/services company's the list goes on and on....Well you probably know where this is going the moment any company calls and asks about me he is going to say i was murdering babies kicking puppies and smoking crack eventually i got fired for not giving him access to a FACEBOOK FAN PAGE I created for the bar and have the email where he says this also i have some with him where he goes of on gays lesbians and the mentally handicapped
So what should i tell them when i put this place down???

Maybe the "managers" phone number has been changed to somebody that you can count on to give a reliable reference...

Sounds like your screwed either way.

On the app where it asks for a reason why you left just tell the truth. The owner had a nervous breakdown and fired everyone. Also, where it asks if they can contact previous employer just check the "no" box

I have a suspicion my current employer (not trucking) may be saying bad things about me to prospective employers. I have for over a year now been applying everywhere and nobody will even give me an interview (all non trucking jobs). My uncle who works at same place has been looking for another job for over 2 years and no interviews. I have been with this small "mom and pop" store for about three years now and next year I may get into trucking. I worry if this is the case, I may have a hard time getting hired somewhere. I am interested in this thread if anyone has experience with a similar situation.
Some notes: I have been working with this small store for three years. Prior to that I was unemployed due to taking care of a friend in bad health for about three years. I pretty much have no recent work history other than such. I do my job/work and have never been late to work. Only out for sickness (was actually in the hospital those times).
