Previous Employer Won't reply to new Employer. Can't get Hired

I've never been able to provide 10 years.

They keep closing up.

So you gotta think outside the box. Call the company yourself with your new company on the phone(muted), say you need to know you're exact hire date because you're trying to get a loan. This seems crazy, but try something along those lines. Sometimes if people don't want to follow protocol, go against it. I worked for a company that went under, I still had a number from a previous dispatcher and she verified my employment there. The owner wouldn't talk to my current company. He didn't like that I left.

 

Apply somewhere that uses TenStreet and they will bug them forever!

Caution: once something gets into TenStreet; it is there forever!

 

Hmmmm...how far is the company or terminal from where ya live? May have to make a house call....

 

Listing 10 previous years of employment has and still is a federal requirement for all CDL applicants.

 

Coming from the position that I have answered every single request that came across my many desks since 1986; I am continually amazed by the amount of companies that ignored my requests.

I DO feel that the more specialized the carrier's business, the more care taken in the background checks.

As I got closer to retiring I noticed an uptick in the amount of requests coming from TenStreet as companies find that digital compliance model attractive to a variety of carriers and often was angry for repetitive requests for the same driver's information as someone skipped form carrier to carrier every six months, or so....only to be told that they would keep my replies if I was a customer.

Funny how they ended up being the means that finally let me retire!

Spending the first 25 plus years of my 45 in the industry at Haz-Mat tank carriers; I was kinds surprised at the accepted differences in less-specialized aspects of trucking.

I was suddenly hiring people who would never have yanked a tank for any of my former employers.

Anyone who passed the insurance was suddenly in top demand and I really learned how vast was the number of chumbags out there managing shady companies.

There will always be companies trying to dodge the costs of compliance seeking to pocket the most while paying out the least while ignoring the previous employer requests generated en-masse from their revolving driver's exit door.

This will also include most 1099 carriers.....
