Does Prime have any nohire states with respects to doing your training/apprenticeship through them? My husband (mature adult, excellent driving records, no criminal stuff, no drugs/alcohol, solid work history except for current unemployment) is considering a career change and Prime is on the list.
We live in mid-coast Maine, about an hour between Augusta and Bangor. We're not worried so much about home time right now (if Prime can get him to say, Portland, we can do the rest without much ado); we know it'll be rough the first year and can deal with it.
Prime apprenticeship program -- any states they don't hire from?

I'd say you would be located in a "Prime" location.
-
Yea they have a deciated division that runs in the NE so Id think he would live in good spot cause pays little extra per mile to run in that division
-
We have the WalMart acount in Lewiston Maine you could be home every night
-
Best thing to do is talk to a recruiter, but I know Prime does a lot of NE stuff.
-
Definitely give them a call. I have been talking with a Prime recruiter for the part couple days and I have to say the more I learn about the company the more impressed I am with their program. Best of luck to you guys on this adventure.

I just picked up a load from Bangor. A few Prime trucks running around in Maine, looks good. Take Care.

when i was talkin to a recruiter she always said it changes time to time depending on the load demand. but hey give them a call the leasy thing they can say is yay or nay. good luck in your journey

That's good to know, thanks. He'll be giving Prime a call in the morning. A lot of thought has gone into a career change for him -- he was very good at what he did (electrotech -- industrial maintenance) -- but there just isn't a strong demand for that in these parts. Too many really promising interviews that have lead to bitter disappointment in 2011, so we need to shake things up and get him working.
Always see ads for CDL-A drivers, and *every* truck company careers page has drivers wanted. Not so much for manufacturing-related jobs, knowwhutImean?
Anyway, thanks for the info. Here's hoping for a fresh start in 2012. -
I'm from Guilford, ME and started with Prime Nov 8th. I have actually relocated to Springfield, but there is no problem being from Maine. Great company, I can highly recommend them!!!dixieswife Thanks this.
