I like, LOVE, pot! That said, the last time I smoked any wacky tabaky was September of 1981. Due to a previously held security clearance, that info is in my FBI file. So, I do not attempt to hide it. It did come up in my employment on boarding with Swift. Obviously it wasn't a problem. But, I was asked and told the truth. Although it is highly unlikely if I simply said no, nothing would happen. It 'could' come out. So, I don't hide try to hide it.
The reason I haven't smoked pot since 1981 has to do with the employment I have had since then. I was in the Air Force with a security clearance and would face severe consequences. Later, I was an employee of the federal government and although testing for pot is almost never done, it is an offense that could have cost my employment. I'm of the "don't do the crime if you can't do the time" basic mindset, so I left it alone. There was about a year and a half between when I retired from federal service and started to become a commercial driver where such consequences weren't consequential. However, circumstances lucky, never really gave me the opportunity. Being a commercial driver at this point, I just agree with the non use of pot for commercial drivers.
All that said. I will be 67 in April of 2027 and current plans are to fully retire at that time and I am so forward to, without consequences, getting stoned again and listening to some great jazz! Listening to jazz while stoned is simply incredible!
I got nothing against pot, obviously. My significant other smokes daily for pain management. She has medical issues and is on Social Security disability as the result of her medical issues. Pot, without question, is the best pain management medicine she has found that does not have the severe side effects other pain medications possess. Since it isn't covered medical insurance, I end up paying for it. So, over the last few years, I've spent thousands on pot. But, I haven't smoked any. But, one of these days!!!! Lol.
BUT, it has NO place in a commercial driving environment. If you can't leave it alone, find a different industry to get into. Having a clear mind is not an option in this occupation!Sirscrapntruckalot, born&raisedintheusa, joshuapowell61 and 2 others Thank this. -
