Lol is that what prime told you? Kinda like how they said they did away with the lightweight pete's because the drivers were rolling them, and all b.s. aside I had a lw pete and I know why and that wasn't it. The 11 litter ism's stunk on fuel mileage back then fuel was over 4 bucks, but that truck was far more stable in curves than anything else I've driven. My point is not the first time prime made an equipment change then laid down a thick line of bs as to why. Now with the apu's if I were to read the writing on the wall I'd say it was because these new ghg14 compliant trucks already cost 140k and now we're told to expect more emissions regs coming, thus further increasing the cost of the equipment. When you can get a rigmaster for $8, 500 and I paid $10,914 for my tripac evolution why not try to keep the operators costs down. You're already paying $70/wk for that apu and it'd be probably $90/wk if it were a tripac. Make no mistake the tripac's are the better and more reliable unit but when your lease only lasts 3yrs is worth it to pay more for the tripac that's known in some cases to go as long 50,000hrs before an inframe when you put 2,000-2, 500hrs/per yr on that apu, or is it a better business decision to get the rigmaster? Which is why there's a tripac on my truck because I plan to run that one apu on this truck and the next truck, for me that's the better business decision, because being an o/o I can actually use the reliability I'm paying more money for. Its about making the better business decision even though some folks think its about having the best stuff, so I think if prime were to tell everyone what I just told you they'd piss and moan which is why they didn't. Definitely not pointing a finger at you here red. But that's just me reading the writing on the wall. As for the p.m. schedule being longer on the rigmasters(1000/hrs) than the tripacs (2000/hrs) you can easily find the correct information on their websites.

Never had any real issues with them before. Ran solid as a rock.
Never been a big fan of the Roaring Riggy, which I have now. It was a royal pain in the arse to get running properly in the beginning. In our shops at least 6-8 times when new, to no avail. Truck & Trailer to the rescue, it has at least been acceptable over the last year, though noisy as hell. Doesn't bother me as much as it does other trucks, when no chance to park away from others. Hasn't been a big issue, as truck has been running for most part as trainer or team. So, limited need for running APU. Solo will be an entirely different situation.
If it was to be run strictly as team truck, would definately be tempted to give a battery only system a go.Last edited: Mar 6, 2016
