Cheyenne for the night, taking the extra 40 miles and heading up the 25 to the 90 to get to Seattle. The weather across Wyoming is ugly with lots of wind and snow in the forecast for the next few days.

Been running hard. At the 90 in Orlando, FL
FullMetalJacket Thanks this. -
Apparently, just missed you by a day or two.
Didn't have the time to catch my guitarist friend at Disney there, but did have enough time to jump over to New Orleans, while here waiting on 90 to open on Mon. Was 2 days early on a weekend.
Still running well on recaps last 2/3wks, & still could have run well. But, weekend sometimes presents itself a "forced rest", depending on where your at. Not always, but sometimes......
I wait till that kind of situation comes up. By then, it is usually a welcome sight..... even if you want to keep rolling. You just roll with the punches & situation.

'SP Thanks this. -
Been sitting in Port Arthur, TX since last night waiting to see how much I get screwed on this load...
Im not very happy right now... I had my 1st load this week get rescheduled mid trip forcing me to sit 24hrs. Then I get to the reciever wait half a day to get unloaded, then wait the other half day to get reloaded.. (literally had a 10hr reset betwen my 90 and 01)
Now Im sitting at my 90 for 4hrs now, and they tell me they will get me unloaded soon as they can but they have people working on the building so they have to work around them.
Well out of the blue dispatch calls, tells me they are going to unload me (sometime today) check the product then reload it and send me to some cold storage place...
Is this the normal #### company guys get, because Im not amused...
1995 miles in a week I could have easily done 3k... now I wont even get another load in after all this waiting.. -
Joplin, MO at the J.

Aurora, NE at the Loves for a spell.

Saw your post before, but did not have time to reply.
Feel for you, my man..... I really do.
I'm guessing you may/may not feel glad you didn't take that reset about now?
How 'bout if you jumped on that lease side w/no backup funds?
I realize you have just gotten out here running "solo" on your own. Man, that Solo clock is a #####. Running team never quite prepares you for that. Shippers/receivers? Yeah, when somebody figures that #### out, I'll personally give them a cool million $.
. Never, EVER gonna happen.
Unfortunately, you have run into what we have to deal with, from time to time. Yes, we do have bad days & weeks. Have a bad day, you just try to drill into mind that tomorrow is another day & will be much better. Hope is, that it will not stretch further & make a bad week. Occasionally, it DOES stretch into a bad week. Remember "Murphy", he's a bad MoFo sometimes. Good Lord..... I have known him well! LOL
No, it definately does not go this way all the time. So, settle yourself on at least this count.
But, you will very soon come to realize, #### is also not peaches & cream out here all the time. You haven't even run into mechanical/breakdown issues with truck or trailer/reefer, yet. Thankfully, that does not happen often, due to the quality of equipment & maintenance we have, but..... #### does happen. Got to be able to think for yourself on the fly, or your gonna be sitting waiting for service.
Serious issues you got a prob, but if It's something I can handle....I handled it & I am on my way & getting reimbursed by company later for my expense & time.
And, if you happened to get one of those Mon morn/Fri afternoon assembled trucks, right out of the factory?.......may the Good Lord bless you! If you thought buying used was taking a chance, new can be #### near the same at times. Though, they have gotten better.
Listen, bro.....
If you're lucky, there are going to be WAY WAY more days & weeks out here that will go off without a hitch. You're in the moment right now, just getting out on your own. Tomorrow is another day & there is always next week. Have to tell you, though.....you ain't seen nothing yet. A bit of shipper/receiver delays.....yeah, happens. Just hopefully not strung together like that.
But, you have to be ready to take in stride what "Murphy" can throw your way. At ANY given time......
Only way I can describe to both family/friends & students, to boot..... Is that what I do is 90% pure enjoyment, interrupted by moments of 10% of pure & utter frustration!

That is no exageration & laying out the truth. You just ran into a "little bit" of our hassles, right from the start. It CAN wind up WAY WAY worse at times. (Crap, should I even mention that....?) LOL
You'd be best going forward, to expect the worst case situation it could be. (Trust me, you're no where close to what that CAN be.... we ARE heading into winter season, now). Look for the worst & you'll at least feel a whole lot better with how things turn out.
You'll be alright, man.
Ah, hell...... where's @Chucktshoes when you need him...... LOL -
Wall 'O wall of posts, I know.......
LOL
Just want to see you make it out here, realities & all.
I'm an old fart, so....
Throwing you the Peace sign (Which, of course....not available here).
And, the
You'll be alright. Just take everyday in stride. It IS tough just starting out, out here.
I know, and I HAVEN'T forgotten..... -
Yea but Ive had electricals.. my Qualcom locks up countless times everyday since my 1st week out. It just blue screens and crashes and wont do anything for 20 mins.. ok not mechanical but extreemly frustrating when you are in the middle of Chicago and your gps goes out 4 times in a row.. or you arrive at a location try to do your messages and it crashes..
Also had refer issues my 1st week.
Anyway after leaving my last 90, I get a load to Joplin so I can get into a terminal to get this qualcom fixed. I dropped that load this morning go to my next load that Im supposed to drop at Prime, Springfield get here and they say the load was shipped out yesterday..
I had to rush like a mofo to drop my last load, get a new trailer run back down the highway 20 miles the other way to get a washout and refer fuel, then get to the new 01 by 9am only to still be sitting here because my load is already gone and they are trying to figure out whats up... -
Good Lord, man....
Been dealing with the Qualcom ####, myself, for purt near a year now. WITH student. Crap goes out on receiving end, got's to go to paper logs. Frozen & all.... been there, done that. Hate that ####, but.... does give a little exception to the norm for creative working that we never have option for....
Prob I have now, with giving up students, is our new QC lockout for solos. Biggest bunch of ######## I'm just now running into dealing with.
You're using the Navgo? Only used it once or twice. Absolutely hated it! The hell w/that ####. I always have my atlas, anyways.
Directions into 01 or 90? Give it up, bud. You are now locked out! (Unless, of course you are pulled over to the side, or at a stop light..... for a momentary glimpse. Yeah, that's safe as hell!) Messages..... good luck on deciphering what's her name.
Wanna go back to team running now?

Do your trip planning like you SHOULD have been shown, from get go. Get everything written down from the beginning. That ESPECIALLY means your 01/90 directions.
Hassle...yeah. But, ya got's to do, what ya got's to do to safely do your job. You should know your whole trip from start to finish before you even accept it. No tech involved. That is the way we should be teaching all of 'em, anyways. THEN incorporate any new tech, with extreme care! Never know when that crap will take a dump (Like now, eh?), or steer you into some crazy ### ####, anyways.
You're gonna be alright. Just dealing with more than most just right out. Consider it a good thing. Hopefully you're learning curve going to be a bit quicker than the others!
(I know, doesn't help at all....but, I do try!l
