OK, my $0.02... Now I know everyone won't do this, maybe 10% will. When you go to the scales, check the right weigh. If it is off, put it in the drop trailer report or on your daily post trip. If feeling skippy, you can even send a QC to the RA.... I think that maybe this issue should be a little higher on the safety friday meetings.

Another idea is to buy your own axle scales :biggrin_25510: and store them :biggrin_25523: under your bunk :biggrin_25514:

I had a fill-up that worked out to 3.93 mpg last week. These are the worst winds I can recall since being out here.

Its pretty obvious when it doesn't match up to where it ought to be... that shorthand arithmetic I use is a good double check. Just round everything to the nearest 1,000 lbs and see if you're in the ballpark. When they're off enough to get weighed, just readjust them. There's an online video on how to do it on the website. Just make sure your air is pumped up, and you're on a level surface. Double check the reading a couple of times too.

    silenteagle and da1 Thank this.

Yeah, what IP said. Have a mini flat head screwdriver.

I scale my load at the CAT. Get my ticket. Pull back on the CAT Scale get my air up to 120psi.. then Calibrate the trailer's weigh right gauge to the tandem weight on the scale ticket. Check my tractor weigh right gauge, and adjust if necessary.

On the inside of the cover of the trailer weigh right box you intital and write the date on the calibration info sticker... that way the next guy can see that its been recently calibrated... He may put a little more trust in a guage that was calibrated this month rather than last year

Then Im good to go until I have to give up the trailer on a drop and hook.

    silenteagle Thanks this.
