The main reason Swift is so hated by 90% of the industry goes back to Jerry Moyes' beginning and his cutthroat, underbidding, theft tactics of freight. Doing his outright best to put any smaller company out of business. To add to this, his dirty, shady, just on the edge of legal, buying of stock options, then loaning the unsuspecting company money, then when the company is stuggling again, moves in to take over the company...if you doubt this..look at how he took over Dick Simon out of Salt Lake City, what he now calls Central Refridgerated...ever seen trailers with "Best West", or how about "MS Carriers"..and there are many more..same underhanded business practices.

So what are inexperienced drivers to do There are only a few that will train drivers and in this job market people have few options and most of them are not hiring right now.

There are a lot of people that never excepted to back driving OTR. There are a lot of LTL drivers laid off I have not drove OTR in 14 years

I took a job as a shuttle diver delivering loads between warehouses then I took a spotter job, then the company decide it would be cheaper to farm out all of it trucking needs and I had to move to the warehouse no cut in pay 6 – 230 m-f home every day 28:00 an hour so I left trucking

Now I have been laid off 6 mo and the only offer I have received was from swift. should I turn it down? I have to take 1200 a month out of my savings to live and I cant keep that up forever, my unemployment may run out soon. Do I risk every thing I have because
The owner is not well liked or ARE YOU GOING TO GIVE ME MONEY.
( send me a pm I will give you my PO box number to send me my monthly check)

I don’t think I will need to much training however im back to were I started 17 years ago as a Newbie.

I lot of thing have changed idling was a given I was told never turn off my truck unless I was at home and it was over 45.

Callcoms were just starting out and I never had one. There was no DAC reporting and The Hazmat is totally new and I am sure I will find more changes a long the way.

Do not judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes :biggrin_25525:

You had plenty of space to park, so why are you complaining? Get a life, someday someone will be postings pics of you doing things in a truck that piss supertruckers like yourself off.

IT has nothing to do with whether there was still room in there to park. Those liness are meant to guide a driver where to park. That way if things become busy there are more open spots available. By the picture this "driver" blocked off 7 slots in the parking lot, this is not only selfish but also irresponsible. What if the driver of the truck he was blocking in needed to leave and had only been inside for a few minutes when swift pulled this maneuver? If you don;t see a problem you seriously need to give up your CDL and find another line of work, or go to work for Swift since you agree with their mentality.

I do not drive for Swift, but I have seen O/O and other companies do this as well.

Well from the pic, nobody is blocked; also there seems to be plenty of room to get around this truck. If you as a driver can get around the truck then maybe YOU need to relinquish your CDL and go back to flipping burgers(as long as nobody stands close to your grill that is because obviously that is a major problem for you. Point is this guy was only bothering people at the point and time of the picture because they thought he was rude and only that. Get a grip and realize that you and I also park our trucks in stupid places.

IF you take the time to look at the 2nd picture you can clearly see another set of tires facing at a 90 degree angle to the swift truck . The point is that he is wasting parking spot and a COURTEOUS driver would have taken time to back in, ESPECIALLY since this was a trainer and student. What better location to practice his backing than at an empty truckstop? Discourtesy and crap training.

I have as well Road, my point is that there is absolutely no reason for it, and the justification of "there's plenty of space" doesn't make the actions ok. I have seen stupid crap from my own company (and i'm not just talking about the office workers).

Not buying it. If something is not impeding me from my goal then why should I care, things do pi$$ me off from time to time but why would this even register in my book of complaints.
