Read somewhere that there is a weekly payroll deduction for the securement equipment if you are in the faltbed div.
Does that mean that you own the equipment?

Yup, it's yours. That goes for reefer division load locks and door locks for the reefer guys too. You can take the equipment with you, or turn it in for used credit when you leave.

Im sure others are going to say this but why in this world would you go to work somewhere as a company driver I am assuming and you have to buy the equipment being used? No thanks for me.

I take it you've heard the drivers on CH19 at the truckstop selling equipment? That's their employers' equipment.

Prime solved their equipment loss problem. If the driver has some skin in the game, it doesn't get "lost" nearly as much as when it doesn't belong to them. You don't want to drive for Prime? Good.

Mechanics at car dealerships provide their own tools.

This only applies to lease operators there. It is my understanding that company drivers don't have to but I may be mistaken.

You're mistaken. Company drivers are subject to this as well.

Mechanics EVERYWHERE provide their own tools. To the tune of 10s of thousands of dollars. Hubby had $35,000 invested in tools when he quit wrenching. And it would cost much more to rebuild that set now.

My equipment is taken out of my settlements at 82.06 a week. It's mine. I can choose to sell it back if I so desire if I ever leave prime.

Oh... And it all came to me brand new, with the exception of the used straps I asked for. Sometimes various shippers we drop an empty trailer with one or two straps on it. Then pick up a loaded trailer with one or two straps on it. ###### if I'm giving away brand new straps to anyone hence the used ones.

Tarps... You *can* get them used, but you have to ask for them. Sure, they're cheaper. But they don't just issue you a used tarp and charge you for it.
