Can anyone tell me if Prime hires out of South West Florida area? I'm about 2 to 2 1/2 hours from Auburndale, Fl.where I understand they have a drop yard. I am considering a change of career, and I have been researching otr as a possibility. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I've also been looking at the diff btwn pvt trucking cdl school and a carrier cdl school. I've looked at Roadmaster, in Tampa and Sage. Roadmaster told me I qualify for a wia grant which would pay for everything except food. I haven't talked with Sage. But according to Sage's website they offer 1 on 1 in truck training. Prime's program looks like the best for a carriers school. Any opinions?

Definitely north of I10, maybe south of there down to Tampa. Probably not south of Tampa/Orlando. It would be best to call recruiting, because the answer to hiring out of Florida changes weekly.
As for the rest, check the Prime forum...

Thank you for your response. I have been reading the posts at that link. That is what got me interested with Prime to begin with. Also considering Crete.

In your locatio,
Conway or Swift are options.
R U near Ft Meyers ? -
Unfortunately, yes. Hate this area, but the wife has her kids and grandkids here, moving is a losing battle for me. I have seen Swift trucks in the area. I think they service Walmart? Ironically just yesterday I was behind a conway day tripper I think they are called. No sleeper. I've read bad things about Conway and Swift. Of course I read bad things about Prime also, then I found this thread. I've looked at online ads like craigslist and such, to see which companies hire in the area. I get Schneider, Swift, Werner, and Arnold out of Jax, Fl. just to name a few. Also see Knight fairly frequently.123456 Thanks this.

Winter is near, hiring slows down big time.
Check those 2 companies,
they WERE hiring in ft meyers, as of last (oct) month.Greyghost828 Thanks this. -
Alright, thanks for the info.

Knight has a terminal in Lakeland now. Swift is (as of last week anyway) only hiring student but not experienced drivers in Florida. CRST does and Roehl used to. Its a tough area to be in and can be hard to get home to.

Hey RightCoast thanks. I have checked into Knight. I'll look at them again. I would hire on as either a student depending on how it's offered. Or private school. Looking at Sage. From what I've been able to gather, Sage is better than Road Master. Both have schools within a couple hours of me. I'll probably call them tomorrow after I'm done with doing payroll. Also looking at Arnold out of Jax, Fl.

Windy Hill Foliage takes student too I think, and will hire out of central/south Florida if I remember correctly. Good luck!
