By the same token, then, does a DOT physical mean that you can fly an airplane? Flying is much easier than driving. No one up there to cut you off and make you mad enough to turn them into a hood ornament. Shoot, you could have a seizure and still be OK, as long as you get it under control before you hit the ground. You can fall asleep with the autopilot on and not wake up until the controller yells into your headset. You can be so drunk that you're skidding a mile in each direction, and it won't hurt a thing, until you're near the ground. It seems to me that the medical standards for driving a truck should be more rigid than for flying.
Prime, Inc. evidently does not like a veteran....

Very well received. All 5 of the Veterans in my class were washed out for either good or seemingly ridiculous reasons within the first 5 hours of the first day.....this is why the title will remain the same.
123456 Thanks this. -
What we need on this forum is a thread posting all companies that are vet friendlytruckerdave1970 and SheepDog Thank this. -
Actually, Prime does real well by vets - there are a lot of us here. So I'll agree with the others, your post only reflects a bad day you had. BTW, our corporate head of security spent his time in the Marines.
I'm assuming here that you were clinically diagnosed with PTSD while you were still in. Separation physicals are not something you should put much credence in - they almost always show you're 100%, unless you have something obvious and serious. PTSD isn't something that you "see" on the way out. It's also something that isn't "magically cured" by a separation physical.
A couple words of advice - take it or leave it. You're probably going to have this come up again at some point. You should head to a VA Medical Center and start the process to get your medical records. You might want to start with the veterans outreach office there to help smooth the process of who to see about this. Second, I've had some experience with friends who have PTSD - despite what the military may or may not have told you at the separation physical, this is something that can take years to overcome. I'd urge you to look into whatever sort of therapy you can find for this. Dr. A is a good doctor, and I'm sure he was more motivated by concern for you and how the sh&tstorm of BS that gets thrown at drivers every day would affect you. -
SheepDog Thanks this.

I sincerely think you just stuck your foot in your mouth AND disrespected the entire Aviation industry. -
Hey I agree with "allow me" Why would you tell them anything such as that. I think if you are mentally ill you cannot drive a truck AT ALL! They should of told you that upfront to save you all that trouble. Good Luck getting a driving job!

BTW, there are three classes of aviation medical exams. The third class is almost identical to a DOT physical. -
An air traffic controller, wants to drive a truck ?
