This has to be the most ignorant post I have ever read.

You know better than this, since you claim to be a pilot. The DOT physical is a joke, and the companies that do DOT physicals don't get that revenue by failing people very often. The company will take their business elsewhere. YOU KNOW IT HAPPENS, look around the truckstop and tell me they can all pass a REAL physical.

I was a controller in the Army, where the pay was the grand level of "not so great". lol

ill agree to that statement. I'm an E-5(staff sgt) in the USAF, 10yrs in. The pay is "not so great"....but....it pays the bills and funds my motorcycle racing addiction!
However...the benefits themselves make up for the "not so great" pay. But then again, make the next rank....make more money. Hopefully i made tech this yr!!

Sapper, i hope you get things squared away man! Prime might be a great veteran friendly company, but something didnt work out....move on to the next one and go from there. a prime example(no pun intended) of what the trucking industry is all about....setbacks/headaches/miscommunication/pure frustration....just like anything else you would experience on the "inside"!

    Goodluck!

Uh huh, and you say flying a plane is easier than driving a truck ? That what you said?

Don't do pretrip on truck, get ticket...Don't preflight and die.
402hrs, multi, IFR ,Retractable ,rotary and training on turbine.

    Bring what you got.......

and you a super pilot , 3 types of aircraft and ace aviation mechanic who drives freight truck

the man got screened out there
at the next outfit he should tell them the great things he did in the service and pass the physical.
if you start talking up the ptsd they see huge liability in assigning you heavy trucks to live in.
your medical records are confidential .

My post can only be as intelligent as the person who is reading it, I guess.

In reality, the third-class aviation medical and the DOT physical are both pretty much a joke. My point is that the DOT physical should be more serious.

Super pilot? I never got paid a dime for flying Convairs, just did it because I could, and because that is what it took to make the plane go, which was my responsibility.

Don't know what you mean by "ace aviation mechanic" either. I never even claimed to be a good mechanic. I never made more than $34k/year in aviation, and that was the best job I ever had. The next best job paid $9.50/hr., hardly setting the world on fire there. Driving a truck, as an owner/op team with my husband, pays better than anything that I've ever done, and that's the only reason I am doing it.

Im new to this Fear-Um, but im reading old posts. Seems the original point of this thread was to talk about a Veteran getting passed over because of a crappy company, or crappy personel. Im also a veteran, Med Ret. and i start my "training" in 7 days. As a 90% disabled vet i think i have a fair vantage point on this as well, and when i out processed the Army my docs told me that nothing that happened during my time of service was the concern or any civ doc unless i needed more help.

I dont know if you have a good choice of companies where you are, but as a fellow NCO i feel obligated to tell you that the company that im a pre-hire for offers an extra $1000 monthly bonus for the first year for me, just because im a vet.

Before the "Old-Hands" rip me about being a "company recruiter" i have no desire to lie to anyone especially a fellow soldier and more over and NCO. Give it another look, and if you cant find any good companies, as your local VA rep.
