I've been at Prime for 8 years... someone is pissin' down your neck and callin' it rain. You better be asking a bunch of questions, because most of those guys train because they'd be eating .a steady diet of ramen noodles otherwise.

My trainer was a veteran of 30 years in the industry. He ran an incredibly tight ship. 30 minute break was 30 minutes not 31 or 30.01. As soon as one shift was over another began. He got constant loads and we barely sat. I saw a couple of his settlements and they were in the low to mid 3,000 range. The way he pushed a new student(me) to doing long shifts was incredibly unsafe. Is money really worth risking your life for? He trained one student after another. I can guarantee you 99% of trainers will not and can not run like that. Your odds of getting constant loads the way he did are slim to none. I'm siding with Iron on this one.

I was asked several times to train. Each time my answer was a big NOPE! I'm in the same boat. It's so dangerous. My hat goes off to the guys who pull it off though. I'm too worried about myself. Id be a nervous wreck wondering if tonight was going to be my last night. I did team for about a month, and although I trusted my codriver it was very tough on me still.

29 years from now you might have a chance of duplicating that rookie. You won't get the same load selection. Ever hear of experience and seniority?

If you're still around in 29 years, and I'm still driving. I want you to go to the nearest gun shop, pick out the highest caliber gun you can, and put me out of my misery! Please. I do love this industry and driving on most days. But 29 years of that would be far too much. In my humble opinion of course.

Lol iron, did you read my whole post? I'm trying to say how unlikely it is to make that kind of money at prime.

Its very doubtful that you will make more than $1500 AVERAGE after expenses considering truck payments, your lack of experience and the realities of the freight cycle. With one great big year of experience, exactly what do you think you have to offer a student? Have YOU ever even put a chain on a tire in winter weather? Can you even explain how to log a split sleeper berth break? Get real...
