From what I understand from the road...... and from one phone call to recruiting....... the Prime lease is not geared towards success for the independant....... the following info is a few years old....

    To get a new tractor : $3495 / mo
    plus: Refer fuel
    plus Unit fuel
plus a maint / mileage ded. for repairs. ( your completion bonus )

    So calculating : $3495 / .85 = 4111 miles
plus 5% book losses 205 miles
    plus fuel # 2.89 / 5 mpg $2946

So we already have $6441. out before the driver gets paid and that's 7577 miles / mo./ conservitive and before refer fuel and the maint fund ded. A solid driver can put down 3000 legal miles a week / single so by these numbers the driver has cut into his 3rd week of revenue just to pay the bills assuming a perfect world...and it's not. A solid rule taught to me by one of the old dawgs is " Truck note must never exceed 25% monthly gross."

I do work for Prime I am a company driver and I am happy as can be. Im home whenever I want to be 1 day per 7 out but I also get to stop by the house a few times a week and still turn over 2700 miles a week. Bad part is I drive a 2010 mini pete but im home enough not to care.

I have a few friends that are Lease drivers. I will say that no matter how bad some of you make it out to be there it is like any job if you call out sick(not accept loads) or take a vacation(go home all the time) you are 100% right you wont make crap. But unlike most companies you aren't locked into 90cpm. Of the friends I know that lease 2 keep avg cpm breakdowns and both of them ave 1.20-1-30 since first quarter this year.

Like any job it is what you make it. If you want to be a local driver working for an OTR company you wont make it period. Know what your getting into by talking to other drivers not by talking to recruiters make your judgment by recruiter alone and your destined to fail.

I'm not a cheerleader I really don't give a crap one way or another who anyone else works for or if they succeed or fail at any company they work for they're not putting food on my table.

I dont know yet. They havent gotten back to me on the inspection. I know i owe at least $3200. I was $2289 in the hole plus I have to pay back the first deferred payment $849 and you know they will find bull #### to charge me on.

The "good" thing is I'm only getting charge $75/wk to pay it back. I turned in the truck and expected to go home, but they said they'd put me company, let me choose any truck out of the light-weights I wanted (i chose the international due to its space, storage, and livability), and put my on the General Mills didicated, yet I have yet to actually run anything general mills. They keep pushing me further into the east, and I'm supposed to be running back and forth from Michigan to Tennessee. We'll see.

No, its a Pete 386 with a flat-top 48" sleeper. It does not have the p/s jumper seat but it does have both mirrors. They also have no APU, and run super singles, a cummins ISM 410HP, and a 10-spd.

I can't believe people are willing to agree to that. What a crap deal. Those numbers should be the MONTHLY rates, not the WEEKLY rates.
