up to .04/mile extra for getting better fuel milage. So yes, drive slower, get better fuel milage, get paid a fuel bonus.

    1) If you can pass the standard DOT CDL physical, you are fine.

    2) I *highly* recommend getting the permit before going to the school. Orientation is hectic enough without that added into the mix.

    3) Just a guess, but most likely you would test in your home state with a company truck.

    4) I researched all the starter companies and ended up with Prime. I don't recall why specifically I put Prime ahead of Stevens, but I did put quality of life (APUs, inverters, and such) quite high on the rating scale. It would suck to not be allowed to have an inverter big enough to run a microwave oven.

I say Prime. Look around on here and all over the internet. There seems to be alot of happy people at Prime. Just compare the amount of bad reviews about CRE, Central, Stevens or any of the others. Im sure they have plenty of problems as well but its actually not very easy to find a negative comment about Prime. And when I say negative, I mean a legitimate complaint. Not some knuckle head that washed out because of his attitude or lack of work spreading his opinion. There are plenty out there that just hate everything and everybody. Or you can look at it like this. Since a lot of people say your gonna get screwed regardless where you go, just as well go where they off the most money and get something out of it. lol

Well ,I can say this about prime ,they say they have done all your verification and your ready to go ,but in all actuality, they do not repeat,do NOT verify your background til you get there ,bec becathey want to recruit you and if you don't show up ,they don't get paid by government funding, and this is according to Matt Rachel in primes verification office ,they had almost 2 months to ask me questions before telling me I was approved, but waited til I got there and got government funding before sending me home in less than a week over an s.i.s. probation sentence I completed in 2005 ,so I say #### prime and their verification process ,o and Matt Rachel also told me to get my vdl and reapply in 2 years...really, LMFAO...they couldn't GIVE me eno6new trucks to work for them ,o btw ,I'm on my way to Stevens Transport next week w ALL VERIFICATION DONE!!!!

Stevens reputation has always been "nice trucks, few miles per week." Prime's training program is very thorouhh, but long. They integrate CDL school & your riding/driving with a trainer. There a many YouTube videos going over Prime training.

Your weight will not be a problem. Just remember to eat less after you start OTR driving, not more. You burn few calories sitting & steering. If you bring your at home diet & eating schedule to the truck you will gain weight. It's far better to keep it off than try to git rid of it later. I think of eating as a waybto avoid starvation. Some drivers eat a meal as big as Thanksgiving 2-3 times per day or they seem to trying to eat enough to solve other problems.
