I know that the orientation is more of an interview so I was wandering. I need to look professional but I don't want to over dress and considering that if things goes well I'll be going on the road I don't want to over pack. So my question is How should one dress for the orientation ? Would jeans and a nice button up be fine ? and should I bring sneakers or work boots?

Jeans and a button shirt for sure. Better than a t-shirt, I think. I would choose sneakers, if not ratty looking. Comfortable, and learning to use a truck clutch might be clumsy in boots. Winter time boots will be needed.

Remember Winter is coming to bring some warm clothes. You don't have to overdue it in trucking. You could wear a wholly tshirt to orientation and they could care less. You'll find out trucking is alot different then your 9 to 5 job.Just don't overpack because I assume you'll be going out with a trainer and they have limited trk space.Yes trucking is suppose to be professional but is it,no.

Yea, I was going to bring boots but I thought sneakers would be better so I'd be able to feel the pressure of the pedals, seeing that I've never drove a rig before . Thanks for the input. I'll bring a coat and a zip up just to be on the safe side.

Might think about bringing both sneakers and boots due to the fact you will be with the trainer a long time and winter is coming soon to northern places. Good luck with your new job

Actually they do care if you show up in a ratted out t-shirt. Make sure to take some pride in yourself. The whole process is an interview. Remember you are always representing Prime wether you are at the yard or on the road. All companies count on you to make a good impression to their customers.

When I went through orientation there were a couple of people that didn't care much about their appearance. The topic came up and suggestions were made to the group about it and that was that. The next day the same people came in with ratty clothes and were sent packing.
