Thanks Traveler51 for the shout outI plan to get the permit next week here in Raleigh. Where do they do the DOT physicals for $55? That is a good price from my understanding. Have you been accepted to Prime? If so, when do you start?

It's 60 days before you are considered a mo res for taxes.
Most occupational health clinics will do it fairly reasonably. Co requires a Physical even with a permit. -
I just went through raleigh . Almost to norfolk .

Just Google walkin clinics and call around. They're open Saturdays.
I have applied to Prime and now waiting on Guilford County Schools to verify my employement. I am former school bus driver.
For what ever reason, it's taking them FOR-FREAKIN'-EVER! I would be there already except for this ONE tiny detail. -

There's quite a bit of information there, so make sure you read through it. They do not accept checks, so you need cash or a credit card when you show up to get your finger prints taken. They say 4 to 6 weeks for approval - depends on how far out in the boondocks you are. Most states will accept finger prints from other states, but you should probably check to make sure. I know that Texas does not accept fingerprints done in other states, nor will they transfer a set from Texas to another state - figures... they're mostly ready to succede from the union on a daily basis!
If you do get this done at home, make sure you bring the receipt with you... you're eligible for a discount on the TWIC background check since some of that covers the same stuff as the hazmat deal. As U2 stated, if you do the hazmat test in MO, you'll have to redo it at home... that's part of the law now. When you renew a CDL, you'll have to take that hazmat test again too. -
Thanks Ironpony for that great hazmat info! You guys are the best!

I went through DTS in Spokane Wa. to get my CDL. Gracie, my Prime recruiter, set me up with a bus ticket this morning, looks like I'll be in SLC on Monday the 2nd! I'm definately looking forward to Orientation and getting a trainer! I'm walking in with my license and a C Seat spot, so fortunately I don't have to go through the classes. So now that I'm done studying and testing to pass my CDL tests, I'm ready to come to Prime and learn how to go trucking!
Matti and Newtrucker83 Thank this. -
Congrats Moonscarred! You are ahead of the game, good luck!
