    Hello Everybody,

Been stalking the forums for weeks now, first time post.

I have been in talks back and forth with Tabitha, one of Prime's Recruiters.

One of the issues is the BMI / Sleep Apnea issue.

Many people on these forums, and I mean MANY have said that if they determine you have a BMI of 39+, that you would require Sleep Apnea Testing.

That is all fine and dandy, but THIS is the problem. A majority of you on these forums have been saying that if they determine it, that Sleep Pointe at Campus Inn will do it, and that it would be $150 for the test, and about $2000 for the CPAP, which can be taking out of your paycheck.

THIS is what Tabitha The Recruiter says:

    -----------

Eric Gibbs to Tabitha Nov 16 (1 day ago)

Is it true that we can get the sleep study done in Springfield? I read that if you need a Sleep Study and/or CPAP machine that Prime will allow you to have it deducted from your pay?

On the sleep study, no that is really for our current drivers.

So if I were to come to Springfield, using a bus ticket provided by Prime, Inc., if I were found to have a BMI of over 39, I would have to find a way back home, do a study, and then find a way back to Springfield?

Well… lets settle this… is your BMI a 39 or above? If it is I suggest you get the sleep study done before coming to orientation so you don’t get sent to do one. There are BMI calculators online, just type that in and several will pull up you can check if you know your height and weight.

In my opinion, she seemed a little rude about it, but that is my opinion, and I won't let one employees attitude on one day deter me. I am just all sorts of confused, because everyone on here is saying they can do it there, and have it taken out of my pay.

If not, I do NOT have insurance at the moment, and testing starts at like $2,500 for one night...

Sorry for the Double Post, and I'll delete one if need be, but am a newbie, and the company boards dont look very active.

Sleep Apnea is the new buzzword of the driving world. If I can read between the lines, she's saying, "take care of it before you get here, otherwise you'll be headed back home."
I don't think there will be any way around it. There should be other places that do the study cheaper if you go that route, but perhaps you can find a different company to start with that isn't so critical of sleep apnea.

Agree, Maxwelltie. My curiousity is sparked, however, by a majority of responses to this issue on here stating that when they determine you need one, that you can do it at Orientation, due to having the company Sleep Pointe on-campus, and they have even went as far to list prices, how much is deducted each week, etc.

So I am curious as to if it was a policy change or an incorrect Recruiter? I actually called their phone number and started to ask, and she asked who my recruiter was, and I was transferred to my Recruiters voicemail. lol. Guess I'll play Recruiter Roulette on the phone here in a few.

The $2000 for the cpap machine is a rip off. You can buy one that uses a Smartcard data recorder for less than $700.

I use a non Smartcard cpap with a small inverter but then again I work for a small fleet who leaves it up to us to get a medical card.

It doesn't suprirse me that the cost would be risen. My issue, however, is lack of insurance. So the whole ordeal being deducted from my check is a biggy. :biggrin_2554:

You might look at losing some weight if your BMI is 39 that's high. You might have some other problem to worry about like high blood presser, heart disease or diabetes. Sleep Apnea might be the least of your worries.

Ill have to check my files at home because I don't think the sleep study I took cost $2500. Insurance covered 80% and I don't recall paying that much out of pocket for the rest.

It may depend on where you live on how much it costs.

I think a lot of drivers are type 2 diabetic and don't know it. That would explain a lot of the pee bottles.

I called again, and spoke to Julie this time, and she says as far as she knows, that is how it works, and how it has worked. So I'll take her word for it. Kind of want to question my Recruiters intelligence/source on this one. ;) :biggrin_25522:
