I am a recent school graduate with my tank and x endorsements and I have been speaking with the Prime recruiters about training. I am interested in their company tank division. I was told by the recruiter that I would have to start training for 4 to 5 weeks with a trainer pulling refers then they will put me with a tank trainer for the remainder of my training miles. When I complete my training miles I would transition into a company driver, tank division. For those that know is this a realistic situation?
Thanks in advance for the info

Tell them to put it in writing and send it to you.
trucker43 Thanks this. -
Have them just sit down and explain it to you in base terms. Not extrapolation of the mind, just have them read the position description to you. -
that don't make any sense, pulling a reifer is nothing like pulling a tanker, tell'em to put you on with a trainer for 5or6 weeks in a tanker,at the end of six weeks you will know how it's going to feel, you have to get use to that fuel moving around on you, especially when you are breaking or shiftingseeya.

And no I am not a recruiter it's just that Prime is local to me and I know a little about them. It's hard to drive around Springfield without seeing at least a few Prime bobtails running around. -
So the way I see that is that they probably want you to pull a box for awhile just to prove you did learn to drive in the trucking school you attended. No one wants a rookie out there trying to control tank surge, especially in the winter. Having their comments in writing won't do much unless it's from someone hire up than a recruiter. Recruiters are basically the bottom feeders of the transport industry.
