I'm wondering if anyone on here has turned their capitol lease into a used lease-purchase. I'm considering turning my 2012 Cascadia into a lease purchase when the regular lease is up in April. I understand that it requires a $13,000 down payment with the rest of the purchase price spread over 104 payments. Can anyone give some insight on the terms of the lease? Thanks.

The problem with Prime along with some of the other carriers is that they have like a 5 year (+/-)
limit on the age of year truck.
After your truck reaches the age limit (whatever that "magic" number that is for your individual carrier)
you either have to get a new truck or lose your lease.
Companies do this to keep you under their thumb. If you always have to sweat a truck payment then
you can't get too independent on them.
There should never be an age limit on a truck along as it's, able to pass a DOT inspection, and is kept in good clean condition.
Any company that wants to dictate how old your equipment is, is a company stay far away from. -
Prime does have an age limit to bring an outside truck in, but once a truck is on at Prime, it can stay on as long as it is kept in "tip top" shape.123456 Thanks this.

That's right. My friend has a 10 year old truck leased on at Prime and I met a guy a couple years ago with a 94 FLD.
Best thing to stay far away from is folks that aint got a clue what they're talkin about.Chucktaylor and T_TRUCKER⢠Thank this. -
It's $13k down less $1k for each year of service at Prime. Your truck has to have less than 450k miles on it at the time you sign the contract... at the end of your 3-year lease, and make sure you inform leasing of your intentions at least 6 months ahead of time to keep your truck off of the auction list. Your truck will be inspected at that time, and you will be required to finance all repairs not covered by warranty. You're still required to maintain your PM schedule. Other than that your operating agreement with Prime will work just like your lease. There isn't any over mileage fee taken out of your settlement, but you will have a generic maintenance/tire escrow that you fund. Plates/permits hit at the first of the year... $100 per week until its paid off... around $2000 or so. HVUT is August, again $100 per week until its paid off.
Start saving your money... the maintenance is all on you after the warranty expires. It gets expensive. You're expected to pay your bills at the time they are presented to Prime... there isn't any more paying things off on weekly payments except as mentioned above.Last edited: Aug 22, 2014
