I was just reading about Prime's apprenticeship program on their site ( http://primeinc.com/drivers/cdl-training.html ), and I've got to say my interest is more than piqued. I really like the idea of having six months to drive with an experienced driver, rather than the standard three weeks to a month.

Does anyone here have experience with this or another apprenticeship program? What do you think?

Uuhhh trust me, six months of being someones ##### is way too long. He will get paid all your miles so he will milk you for all youre worth. If you cant pick this up in the first two months than this isnt the job for you.

It isn't 6 months. It's PSD training (if you come in w/o CDL) for 75 to 100 hours (up to your instructor, those are minimums). You come back into Springfield, get your CDL and get sent back out w/ your trainer for 30k minimum. (40K if you come in WITH your CDL). These are minimums. Most TNT teams are at about 3500 to 4500 the first 2 weeks and 5k to 5.5k for the duration. Your TNT time will be about 8 weeks for a PSD student, barring breakdowns and hometime. My husband was down for 3 total weeks (2 for repairs, 1 week on 2 separate occasions) and 1 week for hometime prior to upgrade. He went out on his first load on July 31, and picked up his first load solo on Oct 21. Upgrade takes 4 - 6 days, then there is the time that the shop spends fixing the issues you find with your truck when you go over it. So, 11 weeks total from heading out w/ trainer to truck.

During that time, he was paid a $500/wk or 10cpm whichever is greater for 4 weeks. But he came in WITH HIS CDL. PSD students, once in TNT get a $600/wk or 12cpm guarantee for the duration. After 4 weeks, hubby was automatically bumped to the $600 tier.

As training pay goes, it doesn't suck.

Always amazed how many people get sucked into Prime. Do a lot of research before you sign.
