Well I must say Papaw makes a good case. The only problem I have is with these owners making a HUGE profit. These companies need to realize it doesn't matter how many trucks you have or how much freight you you have without a driver you are nothing. heres the deal the people in the offices cant come out on the road and do our jobs because they dont have a license we on the other hand can go in to the office and do their job with no problems so why dont they pay us the best money?????

You need to realize that as long as wannabe's are beating down the door to get into their training program companies like Prime don't have to care about the driver.

    GEEZ!!
This has been gone over time and time again in multiple threads.
Most drivers trying to get into a lease have no idea how to run a BUSINESS!!!!!!!!
Why is it always "the companies fault"?

IronPony is on what his second lease (or bought his truck outright)
He has repeatedly said DON'T DO IT until you have the experience to make it work.

I have been following many forums on TTR for over a month now and there are SO MANY people that go out of their way to warn against jumping the gun.

I thank the posters who tell it like it is and spend the time and effort to educate new or wannabe (like myself) for answering the repeated questions from people who won't take the time to read the ENTIRE treads. "How much will I make?", "What if ...."
What if a mosquito's nose stretched over the rainbow?

You need to DESERVE the best money first. Prime's owner drove truck no. 1, so he knows what we deal with.

And you drove how many miles in a Prime truck? Of course you didn't... just spreadin' around a little more organic fertilizer. In my experience that statement is complete bovine excrement.

The problem here I think is people just getting out of training or haven't even had a year of experience before deciding to lease a truck. Yes, there are companies like trans am or cr England that make drivers lease after poorly training them, but prime doesn't pressure you into leasing, however they do make it available, and they even offer online business degrees through a local college. DONT even think about leasing or going owner- operator until you have had at least a few years in the trucking industry, and have really thought out the pros & cons between running your own truck as a business and making your own choices, or just driving for a company and letting the company do all the business running. I think a lot of people get themselves suckered in by thinking they'll lease right away and get a shiny, chromed up petercar that has so many bells & whistles they will never pay off the cost of that rig, and wind up losing their shirts when they realize the days of being a "smokey & the bandit wannabe gettin' all the ladies hot & bothered truckstop hero" are long since over.

Well I can tell you this much...I KNOW for a fact Kraft was paying 2.86 to 3.24 to haul loads out of springfield,mo. O&S trucking paid their drivers .90cpm plus f/s then it was .27cpm on ld miles. lease drivers paid for everything now you tell me why they needed to keep that much money when the lease driver was paying everything?????? I have seen companies pay 2.50 a mole and prime drivers get 1.45. Tell me why prime needs to cut the drivers that much???? heck prime is like some kind of compound up there

We get 72% plus FSC. Any time I've asked to see the original freight bills its all been correct. Many of my loads pay well over $2/mile, so I don't know what you're gassin' about here.
