Something else I'd like to throw in the mix.... My previous company, who shall remain anonymous, paid percentage of gross, and that was in the 22-23% range for company OTR drivers. The paid gross on all refrigerated loads was around 2.00- 2.50 $ a mile, and anything going back west was $1.50, sometimes as low as .80 a mile. Is this true at all companies, whether it's lease, o/o or company?

On the lease deals is there a charge for excess milage...?

I read something about more than 2900 miles a week over a year, or the whole lease your charged.

If it exists How much is it ?

It starts out at 1.5-cpm up to 2899 (?) miles, then jumps to 2.0-cpm (?) for those miles over that. There's a third threshold that only teams get to as well. It's been sometime since I looked a that, and it's not involved in my current contract... mea culpa, I know you'd like something more definite. Those numbers seem to be about what I remember, and I did check the 1.5-cpm figure against one of my settlements.

It's used to fund repairs on lease trucks, and if you stick it out to the end of the lease, you'll get back whatever isn't used plus interest. Drop out early, and they keep any unused balance.

Its their assumption that if you have the balls to step up, you have a clue... and you're correct, many do not. IMO, that doesn't equate to "Mr Low making a killing." On the other hand, if you know what you're doing, you have an opportunity to do way better than the company guys.

Prime lease drivers are making more at the end of the year than the company drivers, so do the math on how bad the average company is screwing there drivers, and you dont get the completion bonus.

Everybody complains about the lese, think about how much they make off you as a company driver.

As an average company guy, I was grossing about $50k... before taxes of course. That was before a number of rate increases.
