After getting out of the Military I have tried to apply at TMC, Werner, and Roehl to get a prehire letter so I could attain my CDL with federal funding, from Truck America Training, in KY. All three companies declined me because of a "Following too closely" ticket I received in April of 08. That is the only negative thing on my records. Could anyone help me out and advise me of other companies that may take me ? I don't want to use my GI Bill and not be able to get hired and waste that money. I didn't apply to CRST because I make more collecting unemployment, or so it is my understanding, from reading post on here. Thank you in advance.
Problem, Can anyone provide advice please ?

simplyred1962 Thanks this.

Companies look at that as a serious infraction and most will want 3 or more years of a clean record before they look at you. The market is just too flooded right now with drivers with perfect records and the companies know this. The lawyer thing would be in your benefit if it works.
simplyred1962 and Mastertech Thank this. -
well I got a pre hire from CRST within minutes of filling out their online app the recruiter called me. heard from prime also. i guess CRST will take anyone, thats the vibe i get. Thats probably gonna be the only way I can get my foot in the door.

A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. It is so competitive right now that it is really hard to get the start. If CRST will take you, then it will be a least a start. I've heard form some on hear been out of driving school a year and still no job

Prime may be a better way to go just dont do lease program. And stay for over 1yr or you wont work anywhere.got to prove yourself.

Out of CRST and Prime I would definitely go with Prime. CRST runs ONLY teams. Running team has it's advantages, but I dont want to be stuck in a truck that I might not get along with. unless it's an attractive gal, I can forgive personality conflicts for eye candy!
But the odds of that are slim to none.
But seriously, thanks for your service, but lots of companies dont consider military driving as experience because it's extremely different then driving OTR. There is a veterans preference but 4 years driving in Iraq is nothing like driving 4 years OTR.
