Your notebook may not like the "dirty" power that is being made by that cheap converter.

Are you having the same issues on household current?

notebooks require pure sine wave, not "dirty power" from your 150 watt inverter. Also, cigeret lighter inverters dont do well on old trucks becuase the wireing wears and there wont be enough amperage to run it properly.

    gerardo1961 Thanks this.

Try a larger converter that wires directly into the batteries. You need to look for something with a clean sine wave. I have no idea what brand that would be :biggrin_25511:.

    What?
    :biggrin_2558:

I can understand an old truck having a worn out cigarette lighter plug that is difficult to get a good contact....but 'worn out wiring'?

Anyway, most of my electronic stuff charges OK with whatever the yellow cased inverter Pilot/FJ sells.
Power Drive, just looked at it.

Try reversing the polarity of the 115v plug from your notebook, if the plug will fit the other way.
Hard to believe, but a couple of the 115v things I have in the truck will only work when plugged in the right way.

I wouldn't try that with a modern device. It is possible that the polarity was reversed in the cigarette lighter.

Make sure your inverter advertises "pure sine wave".

Or order one from here http://www.theinverterstore.com/pure-sine-inverters-off-grid.html

PC chargers use a lot of power and a 150w inverter is no where near enough. Youd need a 750w or bigger.
