He said 50cpm plus fuel and wages so on 948 miles it cost $474 + $198 for fuel = $672 for the trip so $1090-672= $418 profit take $418 into 948 miles and you get 44 cpm drivers wages, better than alot of co. drivers but not good enough to put up with all the headaches of owning the truck. Had he been loaded both ways and got say 6.5 mpg he would have been down to 33cpm wages -
So on a 23 hour trip, you made $15.04 per hour AFTER you paid ALL of your expenses. I know some guys that work, or worked, at an automotive plant that would love to be making that kind of money right now.
And, lets not forget, you are adding to your assets during this time as your equipment is being paid for.
Again, I am not trying to dispute what you are saying. I am only using the figures that you supplied and trying to find out how this is not something that is termed as profitable.
For all you guys that keep chiming in about how you won't pull anything for under $2.00/mile, provide your breakdowns of how this trip would not have made you $.
Keep in mind the spirit of this......I am new to this industry and trying to understand the cost structure. -
At the time i ran this fuel was 2.05 /gal
My truck cost for every thing minus fuel and wages for driver are about 50 cents a mile, thats for manintance, repairs, tires, truck purchase and truck purchase replacement and all ins... insurance cost me 135.00/ week
948x50 cents= $474.00
fuel cost = $198.29
total cost =$672.29
income $1269.21
cost -$672.29
Net profit $596.92
62.9 cents/mile profit for driver o/o -
So what am I missing? .629 per mile after you paid ALL of your expenses is not good money?
Assuming you could average that and average 3000 miles a week then your net is $98K per year. Where can I sign up?
Even at 2000 miles week your net is $65K per year.
That sounds like not good, but GREAT $ if you ask me. Especially since this is NET. -

I am a bit confused..... in this thread you claim to have not been paid for over three weeks... http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ner-operator/80303-cant-seem-to-get-paid.html
And now you are wondering how much profit you have made at the laughable number of a $1.15 a mile along with another laughable claim of getting a 9.8 mpg avg.
In order to reach that avg, you had to get at least 19 MPG empty !!!!!
Since you claim to have not been paid, your revenue is still zero.....
Me thinks somebody is playing bubba big rigger on his parents compooter.... -
And you are the one that claims trucker math in this post?
If he average the 19mpg that you claim he would have to while empty he would not have to achieve and mpg to reach the average of 9.8 that he claims.
Again, feel free to post your math but my point was to not even dispute the figures and use those to come up with how this trip was not profitable, which was the point of this topic. -
Yep still zero checks recieved they went to wyoming then to idaho and waiting for them to come to cheyenne.but did get a copy of my first 2 settlment sheetsLast edited by a moderator: Jun 2, 2009
