You already got their excuse "don't meet underwriting requirements ". Shop around.... And dump all progressive products ASAP ......and yes those letters always come on Saturday so you can be ticked off all weekend......

I'm surprised. Your not in a bad area of NY. They probably will not tell you why on the phone. They will most likely tell you that you have a make a written request just to blow you off.

that's weird, because i used to be with progressive and switched because they did not offer GL in my area. i went to national casualty insurance. when i called to cancel my progressive policy they said that they are working on expanding there GL coverages and to check back with them when this policy renews, that they may offer it by that time.

I have never gotten a decent quote from Progressive. Their premiums have always been much higher than most any other insurance company. I was with Northland for years. I left a couple of years ago and went with Lancer. There was only about $100 difference in the premium. Northland had gone up for the last 3 years after lowering my premiums for several years. I have a perfect record and there was no reason for them to go up, but I think most everyone is seeing higher insurance premiums. According to my agent, my premiums are still much lower than most he has seen. I don't even waste my time getting quotes from Progressive. They are usually at least double from any other quote. The funny thing is that some with new authority have gotten good quotes from them. I have been in business for many years and with a good safety record, yet they have always quoted me high. It doesn't make sense.

Im not really sure what they base there premiums on. I have had my CDL since 93 and have a clean driving record. I have only had my authority since June and I was delighted when I got my qoute from them including the $1M GL. I was honestly expecting to pay double what I got it for and im kind of preparing myself for a kick in the balls next year. I figure it will keep going up. I have a friend who is also in NY that pulls a flat that has had is authority since 08 and is paying $2k more than me. He also has a clean record. I did alot of shopping around and Progressive was the only thing available to me. For some reason these other insurance companies dont like NY. There was a couple that said to give them a call back in a year or 2. I do plan on shopping around next year as the 500 mile restriction puts a damper on things. I dont really want to come across an inspection in GA or someplace and have them find it on my CSA.

I believe you can go out of the 500 mile service area a few times per year with Progressive. I would check the policy or call your agent to be sure.

Well, got that taken care of with a simple questionnaire about the type of loads I have been doing. The main thing they wanted to know is if I was hauling logs which I dont. Lumber yes, logs no.

Why didn't they just ask that...... Instead of saying they weren't going to renew you. And let you stew all weekend.

P.S. All insurance companies suck !
