Curious if anyone here is using Project Fi and if so, what their experience has been. I'm considering switching in a few months and wondering how well it works over the road compared to the other service providers.

I am using it and let me tell you it sux! Not designed for OTR drivers, once you make a call it takes for ever to lock on to the T-Mobile/Sprint network which is annoying if you have to move on to the next call. Also the phone lags if you multitask (I've already tried replacing the phone same issue). Also beware If you have Google voice # you will no longer be able to forward your calls to fi#.

I was one of the 1st few people to have access to Nexus 5x with project fi SIM. I'm using fi as a backup/experimental service.

I looked at the Coverage and was unimpressed.
Looking at the map if you want good data coverage, you will need something else along with it.
    Like ATT or VZW Hotspot.

That's kinda what I suspected which is why I haven't sprung for it yet but I wanted to confirm my suspicions. Seems like its a great setup for a metro area with plenty of WiFi but wasn't sure how its work moving around a lot. Not worried about the phone much as I was looking at a Nexus 6p and I don't have a Google number.

It sounded really great when I first heard about it and I didn't have plans to be driving so it would have been a great fit. I have Verizon currently and even when I was driving OTR previously, I had good coverage most places. They've slowly taken all the good stuff away though like unlimited data and free phone upgrade after two years so I'm considering other options. Problem is, there's not very many to consider

The Fi looks good on paper. I've been waiting to read from someone actually using it.
