You guys are assuming that all those trucks you see going down the road have drivers in them, news flash probably less than half of them are drivers, and low pay just may be twice what they are worth to any company.
The turn over rate is because any body can have a driving job in a few short weeks, with the mentality that All I have to do is ride and guide 11 hours a day, nobody watching me at all. well then many of them find out they worry to much, others worry about their woman back home running around with the mailman, others find out they stress out in traffic, heck I know many stress out if there isn't traffic, it might snow if I go there, what happens then. heck some realize that they have to fuel their own truck, and figure they aren't geting paid for it, the list goes on and on.
There was an old saying, that trucking ain't easy, if it was everybody would be doing it, well that has changed, trucking is easy and everybody and their dog does at least try it.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

there certainly will NOT BE any shortage of drivers now would there be..??
there would instead be a shortage of employers, and that is a very peculiar situation where now, the employer WILL HAVE the upper hand in hiring, firing (even for the most inane reasons), lower pay (as there would be way too many drivers available, a glut of a driver pool) ) and MUCH MORE micro managing......
so i personally see no driver shortage, only a employer shortage.
and i'll bet too, that finance companies, insurance companies, truck sales, both new and used, and all associated fee's will JUMP up to and maybe OVER 100% to compensate for the onslaught of newbie o/o's........cuz they gotta work, and not stand around waiting for someone to be fired.
i'll bet too, that MANY drivers will be collecting unemployment, be working other jobs or go back to thier former jobs, cuz they still have bills to pay.....
and i'll bet too that CDL schools will drop off in numbers as there will be no real need for any more driver.
bleak future ahead........in 2026
