    I am very seriously considering this modification. I have talked to the owner of Pro Diesel Tech about his system and all I'm really waiting for is my wife to get out here and get her CDL and us run for a couple of months to have the CA$H to pay for the system. As soon as she feels comfortable in the truck.....we're gettin' er' done.

    The biggest thing about running propane is not to get greedy. Stick with the manufs. recommendations and no experimenting lol. Some would even say "just say no to drugs"

    Low RPM's and high cylinder pressure = BIG BOOM.

    Water/Methanol is also great for lower EGT's and boosting power, but you're gonna have to carry a lot of extra water. So... That one is best kept at the race track.

    Oh BTW, welcome ME to the forum :biggrin_25517: This place is kinda cool :biggrin_25517:

    Gives more HP and can give better mpg's but your still burning fuel rather than the cheaper propane. As someone stated before it really is just an additive to help the fuel be more effecient. So depending on how its used you get either more hp or better milage

    I'm wondering what the end fuel cost per mile is before and after the install. Many of the so called test results we see any more don't figure in the cost of the propane or water/meth. I have thought about a propane system, but have decided to build my own water/meth (mostly for pulling at the fairs).

    I'm real interested in this as well, I understand how it works and increases fuel mpg, but it would be nice to see true cost per mile- diesel and propane together. Yes your diesel cost per mile is less due to higher mpg, but what is the cost of the propane injected per mile? What brand kit did you use? thanks rw

    it works, i ran one on my mech cat when i hauled lumber and chips. home everyday. ran 2 20lb tanks in the sidebox. 6.6 miles to gallon, 30 + lbs of boost. trouble running the road with it is finding a cheap source of propane. i filled my tanks at home. next problem area is tunnels and bridges that restrict/prohibit it. more than you think once you start looking. power will go up, fuel economy will go up. made sense for me because i was buying in bulk. it raises the efficency of the motor by making it a more complete burn. johnny

    Sure your MPG goes up with propane, but you still have to buy the propane!! Nothing is free and by the time you take the cost of the system, cost of the propane and the hassle with refilling you don't gain anything. A local shop installed a natural gas injection system on a customers '06 Dodge Cummins. Total system cost well over a grand with 3 large carbon fiber wrapped tanks in the bed. He travels between Ohio and Texas for business weekly. The only way it pays for him is because he has 2 natural gas wells on his property in KY with a gas compressor so the gas is free to him.

    A gasoline engine converted to run on LPG is a gutless wonder. Even the local propane company stopped buying LPG delivery trucks because they wouldn't get out of their own way.

    LPG = 19,000BTU per gal
    Gasoline = 125,000
    Diesel - 139,200
