I am being sued by a county for not paying the property taxes but I have paid them in another county in Texas. Does anyone know if I have to pay them to 2 counties?
Sorry - will add information I paid the appraisal property taxes to one county for the truck that I drive and another county where I do not have anything is suing me?
I guess my question would be -- does anyone know a good tax attorney that can help me?
I had read another posting stating that they will sue and just add court costs and attorney fees but I paid the taxes in one county.
Any suggestion or ideas are welcome.

Most of the time the 2 co. have spilt the diff. plots of land that are spilt and 1/2 of them pay in one co. and other 1/2 pay in other co. did the people you bought land from pay in the co. you are being sued by?

So it's just tax for a truck? Did you change the registration when you bought it? The other county probably thinks the truck is still domiciled there. You need to contact the county Tax Assessor in the other county and get them to take your truck off their rolls.
When did you buy the truck? The previous owner may have owed taxes when he sold it to you. If so, you need to straighten that out with the Tax Assessor's office.
Don't delay. The fact that they are suing you suggests to me that you have ignored the problem for a while and let it turn serious. If you wait until there is a judgement it's going to get really expensive, even if you eventually win. Default judgements are a mere formality for the county and they happen after a fixed number of days after filing unless you do something. -

I live in east Texas and own my property out right. I think some more info is needed.

Trucks are property, and in many jurisdictions they are taxed as such in addition to the annual registration fee. -
Originally he just said property tax.
