When I was in the Army we did Med-Cap programs in Montagnard villages. Nothing big, just shots, pulling teeth, cleaning abscesses, delivering babies, handing out meds, and health education. We'd stay a couple of days and move on to the next village.
One of the greatest honors the villagers would give you, a way of showing appreciation, was to boil up a couple of puppies for supper.
To refuse to eat the puppies would have been a major insult to the people. It was never wise to insult a Montagnard. To really honor our hosts we'd ask for seconds.
They were a little mushy but the taste wasn't all that bad.

When we had liberty in various places in The Orient, there were more than a few times we ordered beef, but it dang sure wasn't no cow.

And more often than not, tasted REALLY bad.

Chicken on the other hand is chicken.

    bryan21384 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

First, they came for the dogs. I wasn't a dog, so I didn't speak up.

Then they came for the truck drivers. I wasn't a truck driver, so I didn't speak up.

Then the whole country came to a screeching halt and they had to come for the cats.
