Totally agree about the pay- I think all us drivers in general need a big boost for the sheer amount of time we spend dancing these big girls around.
I've been pulling Tank wagons only a year and a 1/2. Started with tanker, don't think I want to pull any other. It does get hairy at times, but I love it. Just take her slow, and check everything thrice, as mentioned.Last edited: May 2, 2019
Bud A., Flat Earth Trucker, X-Country and 1 other person Thank this. -
I was a little paranoid when I started LPG tankers. But Actually it takes quite a bit to cause a Boom - my first load, we got in the truck and boss lit a cigarette lol - cool I can smoke in the truck.

Never mind the kaboom. You can maybe get far enough away if you see something hot enough to light off a tanker.
Ive done some tanker work before and it's mainly detail work. And do not spill the coffee sitting on the floor of the cab.
(My Mack never had a coffee holder worth a ####, unless you wished to use the clamshell ashtray. So on the floor it went, tied to the transmissions stick with a bungee cord. -
I've hauled all kinds of nasty stuff from oil, chemical, fuel, to cryogenic liquids. I will take my 100k+ day cab work and wouldn't have it any anyother way. -
There's a reason we act superior to other drivers

All I can speak of is gasoline hauling and I will say this. I mean no disrespect but you should know the equipment before you make a statement that the tanker will blow-up because of some other driver. There are numerous safety devices built into the truck to prevent what you are saying. I will not go into them but I will say just look at the safety record of most gasoline haulers and you'll see that a fire or fatality are rare. Plus most gasoline haulers go through extra training to identify the other drivers and how to avoid them. Don't get me wrong it is hazardous but knowing the other drivers and what move they are going to make is a huge plus.
austinmike and slim shady Thank this. -
I just stay with the yummy food grade stuff.Just passing by Thanks this. -

If I never touch another dry van again in my life - that's 100% a-okay.... The worst day tanking is still better than the best day on dry van.... I'm saying I'd rather explode than dock and wait between Western & Swift.RockinChair, Just passing by, slim shady and 1 other person Thank this.
