No Pete her Duker, KW all the way :biggrin_25525: I dont mess with the big meat (LOL), frozen plants, produce is a lil different although still a waiting game.

Double L $275 for 98 miles yes, but when you figure you wasted all day on that load its really not much, i think you need to set a goal for yourself, $500 a day to the truck, try to achieve that.

It also has an xm receiver in the truck but I'm gonna switch it to Sirius. $500 a day shouldn't be hard.

500hp is right LL. You will have to learn to argue with these brokers for every dollar you can. $275 might be ok if it is from a rural area to another and you can be done by noon. The best thing is if you can get some customers of your own and work with them. Broker might be getting $700. for that load he wants you to haul for peanuts. You can get by but you have to put some $$$ back for breakdowns, maint, inspections and anything else that can pop up.

Ran into a old buddy this weekend. He had a diesel repair shop for years. Worked on trucks and farm equipment. He is back on the road now. Has a 04 800 KW studio sleeper with cat. 13 spd. Got to drive it a little. Real nice ride. Not as smooth as 900 but the axle is set back a little and it turns in tight places real well. He hauls skateboard. Was pissed. Got a full aluminum trailer and guy in pipe yard had busted his siderails when loading. He was trying to find someone to heliarc it. Told him they would be paying for that if it was mine. Said he was so mad he left before even thinking of that.:biggrin_2552:

Thats for sure, if they damaged my equipment they would be paying for it!

Never drove the 800 but i bet its no different than a T600, i like my W9, not the smoothest riding truck out there thats for sure but it makes up for that in other places.

HAH! I'll take the strapping and tarping to a grocery warehouse any ol' day! I got no use for a trailer with a diesel engine on the nose and doors in the back, thankyouverymuch!:biggrin_25525:

Now if we can do something about all of the cheap a-z-zed loads going to the "Republic of Texas"

There a whole mess of loads going from the Inland empire to TX, but at $1.20 or less WTH....:biggrin_25516:

But they are o so quiet these days :biggrin_25525:

I use to do it as well, i once was proud to call myself a MI steel hauler, but since steel went down the crapper i parked my trains.... Yes i ran a B train, 8 axles on the trailers, only legal in MI for 161k lbs, and northern IN on a permit to 134,500 so it ment breaking them up at the state line.

I agree! I really do agree, why would I come in here and act like a know it all when I don't, then I'd be up the Mississippi without a boat or paddle! :biggrin_25523: Now this is just rough figures I'm sure if I could average a couple of them short hauls a day at $275 a load that would be $550 and for 5 days worth of running it would bring $2750 for a total of $11,000 for the month. Like I said that is just a rough gross estimate.
