No APUs in company trucks. I have been told that L/O may put them in at their own expense but if the truck is returned to Swift, the APU remains in the truck with no reimbursement.

Most wattage I've ever seen on a plug-in is 400. Where are you finding a 1000w one?

    Texas-Nana Thanks this.

Lucky, I've never seen a 1000w plug in either but I did see a 750w plug in. Not in a TS. Not sure exactly where. Walmart auto center maybe. Brand I'd never heard of.

    1nonly and Texas-Nana Thank this.

OlNewbie; Most likely that was 750w if alligator clipped to the batteries (or terminal at fuse box), or about 400w if thru cig lighter/power port. Mine was like that, came with 2 power cords. Good to hear from ya ol' man!

OP: please DO NOT think I'm am trying to lead you away from Swift. As a matter of fact, I'd encourage you to chat with Olnewbie as I believe he uses your terminal. Just make sure you find the best fit (whatever company) for you. For example: Interstate is just down the road from my house. They have APU's on some trucks, have built in invertors. Bad part: Automatic trannys; some maintenance issues and they don't accept less than 6 mo exp.

Also, stick with it at least 1 year. I got very discouraged my 1st few months, but stuck it out. The road got better (a lot), I stopped being nervous and took more of a "what challenges will I have today?" attitude. While some drivers (like all humans) can be jerks, most really want to help if you ask for advice or a hand.

    Buckeye,
When I was first looking at carriers and carrier schools, I was told repeatedly that "it is what you make it". Well, guess what? I've been solo with Swift since early August, I've run consistently 2200-3100 miles/week, I've been frustrated, exhilarated, puzzled, proud, disgusted, excited, bored, angry, content, dissatisfied, and on and on and up and down, BUT, bottom line....when I finish this few days of hometime, I'll be right back out there. Why? Well, it's like this. I look at the other jobs I've had in my 40+ years as a "worker bee" and, in those jobs, I've been frustrated, exhilarated, puzzled, proud, ........ It is what you make it. Good luck!

It is what you make of it at least anything i have ever done.
Swift is a very big company, common sense will tell you the more trucks the more the name Swift is mentioned.
I have never worked for them but i have talked to many that like it and to some who don't.
But sometimes i think some who don't ,half wouldn't be happy anywhere(lol)

    JustSonny Thanks this.
