This may be kind of a vague question but what are some of the Pros and Cons of working for either a huge company like swift for example or say a small local company that may only have a few trucks

Pros would be; established freight lanes, an affordable benefits package, newer equipment, an on board computer system for receiving dispatches and directions to customers, many drop and hook customers, established chain of command, functioning safety department, new driver stepping stone for getting into the industry, advancement opportunities such as becoming a trainer, dedicated routes for some areas, toll credit cards, pre pass, ez pass, national fueling network, and flexibility if you need to go home.

Cons; you are 1 of several thousand drivers and known by your truck number rather than your name, equipment is usually pretty basic with speed governors, some large companies will limit "offsite fueling" to save money, a computer such as qualcomm tracking your movements and possibly contradicting your written logs, slip seating is common especially if you need repairs on your truck it is easier to move to a different unit and keep moving, little tolerance for whiners and crybabies that are homesick, and you are replaceable.

Smaller company pros; The management knows your name, the equipment is usually better specced and you can drive faster, a hands off safety department that will usually overlook log violations as long as the freight is being delivered without having accidents or claims, and many will let you keep your truck and take it home with you.

Smaller company cons; will have stricter hiring requirements usually, in the event of a breakdown your stuck until the truck is fixed, limited benefits packages or higher cost in general to the driver, may not have on board computers, toll credit cards, prepass, or ezpass.
