Keep in mind that everyone goes to one school. They can compare their experience only to whatever they have heard about somebody else's experience. That's it!
That being said, the OP's experience sounds a lot better than mine. I did the 160 hour course at a private trucking school and don't think that I got as good of an education as the OP did (for half the money!!).
Also, from what I have heard, anything is better than a company school, unless you are fond of being an indentured servant.Auburnfan205 Thanks this. -
The examiner at the dmv said that over 50 % fail the driving test the first time so you must know how able you are to deal with the pressure you will face going to a private for profit school or a company one. To be completely honest private schools have some of the best trainers Imo from hearing about the experiences of others. A private school can make anywhere from 50 to 100 grand a week training students! The best trainers go for the big money these schools are offering compared to what your state pays it public school teachers. Also know where and how you will do your driving test. Some testing sites make you do a pre trip, one back, and a road test and you will pass as long as you dont do anything dangerous (most company schools). Other sites will make you do a pre trip 4 backs and a road test under a lot of scrutiny because it is not in the states interest to just give you a license so easily. In georgia it is legal for testing sites to give you 1 or all of the backing manuevers. Some drivers earn their license the hard way here while others got them easily. JS

Sounds like you went to a really good school man, the closest Comm College course to me was an hour away. I went to a private school and paid $4000 (got 1k taken off for paying up front).

My instructors at shelton state were 3rd party . Meaning they could test unless the state decided to randomly come that day . They told us repeatedly now just because we are you teachers don't think we are going to cut you any slack , we are going to be harder on you because we dont want you to get out there and give us a bad reputation or hurt yourself or others . I failed my first time because I thought I went over a Riggs length with it out of gear so I pulled over and the instructor said you hadn't gone over a Riggs length now I have I fail you cause you disqualified yourself . Next day I passed it . I was more nervous than anything the first attempt . The state test out on our range , we would see guys outside our program get tested and they would be struggling in a vehicle just big enought to qualify for class a and a automatic . I seen one guy 45degree alley docking not even make it in the box about 4 foot in front of the cones and the trooper let him pass go figure .
