I'm amazed at how cheap these trucks are. The maxforce must be a terrible engine. Hard to believe it could be bad enough to have a less than 300k truck sell for less than 30 grand.

Offer $10,000 and pull the boat anchor out and put a decent engine in it.
Lone Ranger 13, fortycalglock and ExOTR Thank this. -
Lol, I'm driving one now. I have a break down about once every 2 months. The engine also has poor power, so it won't pull well when loaded. Lots of cruising in 9th gear. The listing says 475hp, but mine's more like 360.

freightwipper Thanks this. -
A hamster running in a wheel is on about the same level as a MaxFart.

What about if emission stuff is removed, is this engine OK otherwise?
-
I been in a lot of 2012 2013 maxxforces...all have too small of passages in the emissions area....they clog up around 100k, check engine light comes on, power goes bye bye...
By 250k, the turbos go...very cheap motors made to emit clean clear air for exaust...stoopid
You can unhook the sensor wire where driveshaft comes out of tranny(loop it with a paperclip)...I had daycabs, so I could get to it easy when fuelin..It'll cut off all the governors...bypasses the emissions controls, rpm's, mph's..It'll get ya up the hills then..
It will completely make the dash go bannans for awhile..I downloaded "digihud" on the smartphone to use for speedo..
The other negative, it takes out odometer, which is where most men would get in trouble...I did it on fridays...lol -
30k is way too much, they are actually selling in the teens. I'm with Oscar, 10k and put a different engine in. If it were legal or if I needed a farm truck, I'd put a series 60 Detroit in.

I ran a 2012 prostar last summer with a 430 maxxfarse in it ...liked the truck but the engine was an underpowered , oil guzzleing POS that lived in the shop , around 380k it lost all oil pressure and the dealer cobbled it back together to get it home and ran even worse , boss traded it off cause he found a dealer dumb enough to give him 40k for it ...that was last June and it's still sitting there .
-
Those seem to be the general consensus on max force engine...underpowered and loves being in the shop

I'm passively looking for a new truck. Mine is fine, but the 48" flat top is too small.
I don't dare buy a max force engine.
