Doorslammers will prefer the ProStar.
milskired Thanks this. -
I currently drive a ProStar. I have driven a Century Class, Volvo, T700, 379, and 9200. The T700 had Paccar power and an Ultrashift. That truck was the quietest ever to drive and the fastest up and down hill with great fuel mileage. The T700 downfall was it's turning radius is a good match to the Titanic. The ProStar is the second most quietest truck I have ever driven. The ProStar has Cummins power and an Eaton Ultrashift. The truck does excellent marching uphill and going down hill. The fuel mileage is also good. The ProStar has the tightest turning radius out of any truck I have driven. Sitting in a ProStar is a lot like sitting in a Ford Superduty with the dash arrangement and how you sit, I personally like that. I have driven 10 speed and 18 speed trans. The Ultrashift is not an automatic like many think. It is a hightech manuel trans. A computer operates the clutch and shiftforks. If you choose you can put it in full manuel mode and shift it like it is a manuel. The Ultrashift really shines when in traffic and the moutains and makes life a lot easier. The 379 was okay. The Century Class and Volvo complete utter junk. At the end of a 700 mile day I usually still feel fresh after driving the T700 or ProStar.

I've got a Pete 386 on a lease deal, but in all honesty, I might have preferred the Prostar if it was offered. It's a nice looking truck with very good aerodynamics and a very roomy cab and sleeper. I once drove a lonestar which uses the same cab and sleeper. I do like the serviceability of the 386. I open the hood and I even have access to the front of the radiator if I need to remove some debris.

Well the ProStar with anything including a stick and a Sail cloth but that Maxx force Engine! Nope Not going there!!! You could not give me one with the MaxxForce Engine! I guess that is why they did away with it, because they were about to go bankrupt. The Cab on the Pete is to narrow, and rather then you sitting on the left side of the truck you are in the middle. Good Luck.

One of my biggest complaints with Intl (I had 2 of them) was resale value. Outside of Ford HDT's, they depreciated faster than other brands by a lot. On the plus side, I always found parts to be reasonable and good availability of dealers for service. In the old days I'd have said the Pete hands down but the 386 is a lot of plastic now too. In the end, you have to make the decision and as long as the drivetrain specs are good, go with what you want.

Get the pro star with the new 2014 MAXXFORCE SCR N13. It's getting amazing reviews, and appears to have fixed alot of the issues they were having with the A EGR MAXXFORCE 13s.
